12/5/2007 18:31 | igoe104 - 12 May'07 - 12:15 - 444 of 445 iM SURPISED the share price hasn,t fallen, more. looking at the trades over the past few days. -------------------- The analysts believe, however, that EBT Mobile China is on track to achieving the estimates. The current weakness in the company's share price offers an attractive investment opportunity, Panmure Gordon says. | divinausa1

11/5/2007 15:08 | (Cue: I didn't get where I am today by being.........feel free, to fill in the blanks!). A Tecteon investor.? | ursamajorra

11/5/2007 14:37 | Hattori, T is being very modest. He is not "reasonably rich", he is absolutely "stinking rich". | britishbear
11/5/2007 14:19 | Had a look a VIY Divvy ? Most chinese are buying from the internet not from retail shops, no chance of a carfone warehouse here my friends! | sheeneqa
11/5/2007 13:49 | Hattori, You're right. 'I am also very modest'.....(normall LOL! Keep smiling, regards T.. | tradx666
11/5/2007 13:46 | ...you forgot to mention how modest you are too! ;-) | hattori_hanzo
11/5/2007 13:28 | I was going to re-iterate "for the HOLIDAY period only!" and part of the reason I personally believe for this is, is that during these holiday periods more and more of the more affluent Chinese are going away, as my own personal experience with Chinese retail is that this was an across the board effect, not isolated to EBT... There is nothing wrong with being dragged up on a council estate, and if you have the intellect, application and stomach for it, it is no barrier to success (whatever your criteria maybe).....I am of course the living proof of it (imho) now being a highly successful, reasonably rich, very happy (good-looking too) oik from the worst area of London you can imagine........! (Cue: I didn't get where I am today by being.........feel free, to fill in the blanks!). LOL!! Don't take yourself too seriously, hope you all have a great weekend. regards T.. | tradx666
11/5/2007 12:27 | The drop in shop sales, is only for the holiday period. but like silverthread says, the management must keep on the ball. I see, chinese numbers are rising rapidly, over the next few years they should be over billion mobile users in china. | igoe104
11/5/2007 12:02 | When the Motorola-branded kiosks come-online over the next 12 months will give a massive boost to sells. Motorola being one of the most popular phones in China. long term hold for me and a buy on market weakness | divinausa1
11/5/2007 11:56 | "By the way i was not dragged up on a council estate, whatever that means. Im sure if i was from a CE then my language would be far bluer..... :)" Not necessarily, Divinausa1. You might have been as intelligent, polite and eloquent as me ;-) | silverthread
11/5/2007 11:44 | 20% fall in like for like sales is disappointing for the short term. still feel if you hold these over a 5-6 year period, you will do very well. i stand by what i say, well maybe my language was a bit blue, but i must confess that idiots that post false info when its in front of your eyes is beyond me, but i do appologise for calling you an idiot. By the way i was not dragged up on a council estate, whatever that means. Im sure if i was from a CE then my language would be far bluer.....:) | divinausa1
11/5/2007 11:38 | Does anyone know if EBT competitors have announced figures for the same period? It would be good to know if this experience was the same over the whole China GSM market for the period, rather than EBT giving up sales to its competitors. The mention from EBT that they were maintaining margin could suggest that the sales of GSMs which did take place were in their competitor's stores... | solotrom
11/5/2007 11:27 | Igoe, Just a point of clarification ..... I was 'dragged up' on a council estate. I guess there are foul mouthed individuals emanating from rich private houses just as there are from the environment in which I was nurtured. I know you didn't mean to generalise, and can fully understand your reaction to divinausa1's stupid, rude and (factually) totally wrong comment. Just wanted to set the record straight. To more serious matters, EBT's performance over the holiday period does appear a little disappointing. It remains to be seen what the impact of the laudable focus on margin will be on full year profits. We know that management has been focussing on rapid stores expansion across China ... maybe it has taken it's eye off the ball in boosting sales in existing retail stores. Let's hope the next six months will see some moves to boost sales throughout it's entire retail footprint. No business can prosper just by focussing on expansion, without effective management of core operations. Overall sales were up by 9% and, if the comment about protecting margins is true, profits should be up by an even higher percentage come year-end. | silverthread
11/5/2007 10:53 | On the face of it a 9% increase in ABSOLUTE sales when they have more than 100 more shops open is a rather poor performance but remember they are going high end and maintaining margins. The crucial issue is whether they are profitable as a group and how many individual shops are profitable. The excuses they give are reasonable (handsets, shortened holiday, margins) but they cannot afford many more slips like this. | britishbear
11/5/2007 10:00 | lets all take five eh guys?? | joesmoke
11/5/2007 09:57 | OVERALL sales are up 9%, because they have more shops open.(nearly 100 more) looking at your language i can tell you were dragged up on a council estate. if you want to say something personel to me, say it to my face. one is so brave when hiding behind a pc. I.LL be at the next agm. (same )store sales were down by approximately 20% compared with the comparable period in 2006. | igoe104
11/5/2007 08:22 | Overall sales (excluding VAT) during the holiday period were 9% ahead of those in the 2006 holiday period. But, as management expected, same store sales were down by approximately 20% compared with the comparable period in 2006. -------------------- There was not a 20% fall in like for like igoe but a 9% rise you F'ing idiot... it said some stores! down 20% if like for like was down 20% the share price would be down 50% lol | divinausa1 |
