Buffett

I don't believe it is that simple.
It depends on location, store size, suitability for Dnlm offerings, lease/purchase cost, lease length (with break clauses), age and condition, and running costs.
IMHO FWIW.

I was rather hoping we might take some where we have gaps in the store portfolio.

Announced closure of many Homebase stores will benefit Dunelm....quite a lot of overlap in stock, soft furnishings, lighting, bathroom fittings, and furniture.

Dunelm do have some ranges on offer, which draws the customers in and then when the customers are in store, they will see Dunelm's attractive displays and all they have to offer. I have always found Dunelm's staff particularly helpful.

£6 is still on the cards and this Xmas will start to show the slowdown in its stores IMO.As I said all Will has in plan is pile it high and sell it cheap.Whilst ensuring its looks like a shabby chic market stall. My, how inspiring?£6 I grant you!

See Canaccord research note below - if they're half right the share piece will start with a 2 or 3 !

Investment case
We believe Dunelm offers a rare combination of space expansion and multi-channel growth coupled with strong cash generation and a market leading position in a growing homewares market. With Will Adderley back in charge the focus now will be to grow the top-line and leverage the strength of the well invested platform which has been established in recent years. Our analysis of future opportunities, based on entry into new product markets and new country markets, points to the potential for profits north of £400m over the long-term once the UK store portfolio target of 200 stores has been met.

They seem to me to be a low cost provider too.
High margins etc.
Low costs to sales.

So long as they keep opening profitable stores and dont mess with the formula DNLM should be really rolling in cash come store 200!!

Buffetteer have a good look at Howdens too they might be of interest you. No worries if not.

Cheers

You've hit the nail on the head !
It's the depth of choice that separates them and that's why people go there first and foremost. No-one else offers anything close and it is why they are category killers when they open up in a new area.

In my area the property is moving, I know for a fact. A friend sold her house last week at auction and it went for well over the reserve price, and she had many people interested.
And, people might like to buy in Next and Zara, House of Fraser, for their homes, but after a move, money can be tight, so you shop around and Dunelm have a wide range of products at different prices, they have their own make and they stock brands.
It is hard to find anywhere that has the range of curtains in store like Dunelm. Again, I know as I have recently done a refurb.
I do have shares in Dunelm, I am happy to carry on holding.

Buffetteer

perhaps you have already mentioned that this share was shown as passing the Buffett 'screen' in a recent Telegraph article.

May pop into the Basingstoke store today as we are over there later.

It helps to check the footfall and till queues once in a while.

Their ad campaign on ITV is noticeable in the run up to Christmas.

Ken don
You talk as though Will Adderley has something to prove to you and has already failed. But the facts show something quite different. He has grown the business from a few small shops within Leicester and the surrounding towns to an out of town destination shop country wide. In the process he has increased the share price since flotation from 170p to over £10 in under 5 years. He has taken back control of the business because he and his fellow directors (all of whom have fantastic retail credentials rather more than yours I fear) felt that he could trade the business much harder than the accountant who ran it during Wills illness.
Your verbosity is plainly to aid your short (which I assume is due to the well-earned premium rating )and is I'm pretty sure destined to loose you much more .why would I ,who has already banked 500% here ,take the risk to buy back in to make my biggest holding if the best performance was in the past ??? Clearly someone is reading the updates and some are just price manipulators.

Yew. Property market in real time is down?Government caps on help to buy are in place.A new home owners first choice is not Dumelm.Interest rates caped at least for 8 months so a reprieve so far. Will Adderly is not and never will be the man to challenge the status quo. That's my opinion and time will prove me to be correct. Will Adderly, does not have the luxury of time as far as recovery goes. Imo
