A reasonable trading day amidst a sea of red elsewhere. Not bad.

Was that a sign that the market believes maintainance of the current dividend going forward will be announced early next week? I do hope so.

If on New Year's day anyone had bet me that DEC would hover around 90 for months on end this year, I'd have taken his bet at almost any odds.If and when DEC is back comfortably above 100 no one is going to be able to moan that the buying window was so short that he missed it.

Either (1) this dividend is completely unsustainable and a cut of at least 50% is factored into the SP, or (2) this is the longest and best buying opportunity I have ever seen.

I have a full holding and have so far more or less managed to maintain portfolio discipline and to resist buying more (though at 89p I gave in to temptation), so I devoutly hope the correct answer is (2). Every dividend pays back a measurable percentage of my capital outlay, so if the divi is still holding and the price is still around the current level when the next divi drops I may well give way to temptation again and use the divi to buy a few more.

Have just checked and fwiw the previous six dividend declarations have all been on either a Monday or a Tuesday. So in theory, anyone who's been hesitating over the buy button may have only two, maybe three more full trading days to act.

I think it would be stronger when we have confirmation of maintained dividend for Q2 payable in December.

14 day RSI heading towards oversold.

You are right, that article shows several minutes of research and someone who can't even be bothered to use grammarly

I an not sure it being positive or negative really matters as it is simply twaddle.

ha ha - you're on fire, KS

At least if he bought DEC, he'd get SOME return on his investment ;-)

"Why are these people always skint?"

I think their tip record may have something to do with it.

The vast majority of the recommendations on Fool come with the caveat that the author would 'probably' buy the share being discussed if he or she had the spare cash to do so !!

Why are these people always skint !!!

Judging by previous timings, Monday 14th looks possible for Q2 declaration.

Natural Gas Weekly Update

"In the News:
Several countries become new liquefied natural gas importers this year
We expect global liquefied natural gas (LNG) import capacity (also known as regasification capacity) to expand by 16%, or 22.8 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d), in 2023‒24 compared with 2022 once all regasification terminals currently under construction are completed. In the first seven months of 2023, three countries—Germany, the Philippines, and Vietnam—began importing LNG for the first time. By the end of next year, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Cyprus, and Nicaragua are expected to start importing LNG for the first time, and several more countries are in advanced stages of developing LNG import capacity.

Over the past 10 years (2013‒22), global regasification capacity has grown by 49% (45.8 Bcf/d) to reach 140.0 Bcf/d across 48 countries. By the end of 2024, 55 countries are expected to have LNG regasification terminals."

Last 5 years results dates. The company has gone very quiet of late and there seems to be much less interaction with shareholders than in previous years. Investor relations hasn't replied to a simple question and there used to be meetings with investors at Buchanan . No doubt covid will be blamed !
Meanwhile NATURAL GAS 2.732 +0.155 +6.01%

It's not as if they have done any brand new developing recently anyway - tends to be bringing some old wells on line if that.

K S – re post #5223 “ Sure - and they make pick up assets cheaper in a low price environment, but financed by what? More placings? Or is there a budget for organic growth from existing assets?”

In response I mentioned the two recent sales of assets as a source of financing new acquisitions.
Your next post dismissed the sales as being unsustainable.
However, it may be a more significant source of funding for further acquisitions than your hasty dismissal might suggest.

In the May 2023 presentation DEC reported ~350 undeveloped locations potentially available for sale;

Expands Undeveloped Upside Opportunities
~50 undeveloped locations with a PV10 of ~$280MM(c)
complementary to ~300 previously acquired locations in region

Undeveloped Location Inventory Adds Substantial Upside
May be monetized or opportunistically developed

Additional ~300 Undeveloped Locations
from prior acquisitions provides incremental upside
“.

They’ve since monetised $56m of assets with the two sales mentioned in post #5224.
If they sell all the undeveloped locations, add some cash from recent earnings plus leverage from the accordion loan, they could possibly fund one or more very useful acquisitions.
If any new acquisitions happen to have some undeveloped locations, rinse and repeat comes to mind.

“...net consideration of ~$16 million....
representing a small portion of the Company's undeveloped Central Region acreage ........
The sale proceeds enhance our liquidity as we evaluate other value-accretive opportunities to generate additional free cash flow..”

In an interview with UBS's Paul Stefansson in June (but only now published), Adam Rozencwajg picks US natural gas as his top investment. For the technically savvy who can get the video soundtrack to work, the link for it is:

Been having a flick through the presentation. Only thing that concerns is the NYMEX 10yr Strip at $4.66/MMBtu, $4.91.MMBtu thereafter forecast.

How realistic is that given where we are today - presumably assumes the LNG export projects are going to push NYMEX pricing up significantly in future?

I know we had a crazy high gas price year in 2022, but we're now back at a pretty low price. Hard to predict?!
