Big rises at the short end today but not so much at the medium and long end as yet. Jun 22 to Jan 23 all hit significant new highs. Later dates did not (yet):

Considering that the assets of the company have most been purchased based on adequate returns with a much lower natural gas price, they must be worth a lot more now that the gas price is at record high. The share price however is still within its historical range.

GKP, no withholding tax.

I think the criterion for withholding tax is that the company is 'domiciled' in a foreign country for the purposes of tax. DEC, although listed on the LSE, is domiciled in the US for tax purposes, for instance.

Otherwise, you could just ask holders, if it has a bulletin board!

I'm no expert though so DYOR.

How do you find out if a share is liable for withholding tax. I'm in and out if this one but I'm looking at GKP but don't know if it is also liable for withholding tax. Can anyone help.

Fred177,

IG corporate actions and their custodian Citibank are beyond useless but as Woodhawk has said they do collect the right amount of tax and the online W-8BEN is quick and easy to complete. To compensate for their incompetent custodian and corp actions department they do have a very good trading platform which gives you direct market access and doesn’t charge stamp duty on purchases of DEC. These last two points are hugely beneficial as they will save you a lot of money.

Good luck with whoever you decide to go with.

fred,

Try ii (interactive investor).

They charge a £10/month flat platform fee for an ISA and trading account.

I use IG Index, did an W-8BEN online (took a few seconds)- bingo! 15% tax (and tax free for those in SIPP anyway). I also use iWEB (for other holdings) but they seem to apply 30% regardless, so no good here.

Analysts have a target price range of 1,50 - 1,70 for DEC shares. Taking an average of say 1,60 means that at current exchange rates DEC will still yield ~8,5%.

BP currently yields 4% while shell yields 3%.

thequestors - I believe the $2,3B refers to acquisition costs net of Oaktree. I did a rough calculation of the various acquisition RNS's a while back and if memory serves I came to a similar ballpark number.

I was also thinking if debt should be factored in but hedges are in place that fully cover the debt repayments ?

The share price and the divi are the best answer to the recent nonsense from the tree huggers and last year from Bloomberg.I hope they did not shake anyone's confidence. What wonderful buying opportunities these 'friends of Greta' lay on for us.

lab305 -You know maybe it's not a problem with the market, it's not a problem with the company management, it's not a problem with the energy industry, it's not a problem with hedging strategy. Maybe the rpoblem lies with your rubbish timing of investing in this share ? Please, lab305 QUIT COMPLAINING !

If you bought in right now, the forward yield is still 11.0% what with the $ so strong.

We do appear to be pretty much at the top of the price channel though and ex-div day is 26/05, still some way away.

Bit of a quandary there for anyone wanting to try and trade around the divi date...
