15/11/2006 14:10 | LONDON (SHARECAST) - South African IT services group Dimension Data slipped back despite its first ever dividend as problems in Europe, especially its UK call centre business, continued to mount. Profit before tax in the year to September jumped from $44.8m to $65.9m on revenues up 15% at $3.07bn, as DiData said its operations in Africa, Asia, the United States and Australia all performed well. Operating profit in Europe, though, crashed from $14.8m to $1.5m with its UK-based Merchants call centres sliding into a loss of $3.4m. Management has been changed but the company is not expecting a quick turnaround. "We are starting to see early signs of improvement (in Europe) but we need to stay focused on that," chief executive Brett Dawson told reporters. Earnings per share in the year to end September rose to 2.7c from 1c, with the dividend set at 1c per share. | sravi | |
