De Beers are not very happy (still), according to a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend. dyor.

I took this situation with a pinch of salt when making my initial investment here, but the longer I keep hearing things about them the more worrying it gets (they are hardly a small bit player lacking in resources!). There was, I believe a 6month period in which there were restrcitive covenents in place, and even then, technological differences sinificant enough that the corporate lawyers felt everything would be fine anyway, so I am hopefuly any bitterness will be smoothed over behind closed corporate doors.

I am led to believe we should hear something in the next 4 weeks, but I still believe there will be signifnicant efforts to bring in more JVs before the market is told just how well we're doing.

Thanks, I agree with you The Drewster, however there seems to be a clear first movers advantage. Whichever, I, like you, are probably waiting expectantly for news...

Tim

There are 2 other types of machines Grease trap and X Ray and they are explained here in the Admission Document

tim, the danger will be that if the technology is proven, the barriers to entry (copycat operation internal or external) are quite limited, so the business migth be a victim of its own success. The way to protect that is to generate enough joint venture type deals to ensure critical mass and significant cash resources.
At current Mkt Cap, a take out would be quite easy sub10p, when I believe the board would be looking for 5 to 8 times that figure.

IF the 10 machines are performing according to expectations, then, for me, the interest lies in selling the technology, maybe on a royalty basis, as opposed to selling the machines...does anyone have an idea of the the number of 'old fashioned' machines there are out there?

The company is in a bind in some ways .
To sell more units they need to shout excellent results to everyone .
If they do that, the negotiation of further jv,s will be much more difficult .
Could the delay in news be because negotiations are under way and release of good news currently would not help things ??

Still very quiet here ! It's over 7 weeks since they announced that production at Grasfontein had finally commenced but there has been no further newsflow since.
I think that we are now very overdue on an update !

Frustrating to see it dip again. But just one mm changing price on no deal so not too bad.

Must be very close to an update now, so bought a few more today at the low offer of 2.65.

Anyone else still around?

Hoping to see some news on progress soon. If positive then we could be in for an exciting '6 week breakout' from DTEC. I would expect those watching on the sidelines would move in quickly and the share price can rise to more reasonable levels.

Good luck all...

Company told me that update would be before end of July but might slip to the first week in August and remember I got the impression that they were upbeat but who knows these days!

For what it is worth, I think DTEC has a good future, but, the main problem is lack of Institutional holdings, and, in the current market climate, that is not an easy thing to achieve.
I am not at all happy with Corvus as the major shareholders - they are very much "pumpers and dumpers" - and the sooner we can get them out the way and replace them with a QUALITY Institution the better - then we may begin to see some genuine growth.
Going off topic - may I suggest taking a look at GDP - I am not intending to ramp, but, I sincerely believe it is share worth researching.

Steve

If things are good, then management will have to manoevre carefully so as not to be taken out too cheaply, maybe, just maybe, they need some critical mass in forward contracts to make a quick take out much more difficult. dyor.

Yeah the mm cleaned up alright on the deal, it's a good mover when
it starts to go blue so i'm watching as always for a trade.

Online limits suggest no overhang now as they are pretty level and
amounts available to buy and sell are the usual small.

I saw a 1.75m sale @1.825p on Tuesday last week (worth £32k) but there were also Buys of 1.295m and 347K @2.74p and 2.625p respectively (worth £44k) on the same day.
