All very quiet ! It is 6 weeks since they announced that production at Grasfontein had finally commenced but there has been no further newsflow. Since then the share price has drifted down 37% from 4p to 2.5p.
I think that we are overdue an update here !

I bought into DTEC at 2.5p only a small investment of 600 quid, also holding GDP which is a great long term investment.

I don't have that many... I originally bought just over 1000pounds worth at 11p and I have bought 500pounds worth at around 3p.

Mot much really. I hold quite a lot more of GDP but that doesnt seem to be going anywhere right now. Great prospects though!!

I think you make an interesting point Drewster. I have previously emailed Juliam Moore who told me there were no IP disputes over any of the technology... but of course we all know that patents mean nothing!

Technical advantage, yes, but the time to develop and bring to market an alternative is the main risk here, De Beers would rather lose a few weeks than give an ex-employee a fast path to independant wealth I'd wager.

Actually quite an interesting dinner I went to. I am not really into politics that much but a friend of mine took me to a Conservative Party bash the other night. I was sat next to a man who mostly works in Hong Kong. He nearly fell off his chair when I told him about DTEC. He said that he was all too familiar with it and told me that he knew of a possible takeover bid but absolutely only if the technology worked. When I tried to ask more question he got a little cagey and told me it would be inappropriate to ask more questions! After the dinner and as we were leaving he made the point that it was only a rumour he'd heard and gave me the usual you don't know where these rumours come from...

Well, a pinch of salt is all I can say. But as someone has mentioned before... if the technology works and I have every reason to believe it is the price is massively undervalued! It would definitely be a very attractive option for an investment company to acquire.

You know what rumours are like but I have heard a strong one that there is an investment company waiting in the wings to see if this technology works and if so are looking at a takeover.

This gets more exciting everyday! Although to be fair I bought at 11p and have quite some way to go before getting REALLY excited!

As for the price of any buyout - who knows, but my guess would be around 35pence per share or around the £100mn mark. Seems a little crazy I know.

I think this may be one of the busiest bulletin boards in August if the company release sound processing results.

Right now, for one thing, the technology at a high level must be working, otherwise they would need to issue an rns saying that they had problems operationally.

If it is working, then they need a 6-8 weeks of processing data to be able to demonstrate a reliable yield. The yield is key here. The estimates at Grasfontein were that they had £150million in diamonds in the ground (potentially revisable upwards).

At the moment the cap is £5mn and fully diluted £8mn, which compared to the £150mn of potential value in the ground for a producer is very little. Add on the potential to licence this around the world and the market capitalisation could easily reach £100mn without being at a stretch.

In reality the bigger producers are unlikely to want competitors to have the technology, so rather than licence deals, I suspect with a proven yield a buyout offer may be on the table quite quickly (within the next three months).

IMHO

Well although you have to be circumspect in respect of BB postings - that seems very encouraging. If the technology works to its full potential then this share will rerate very rapidly and could soon move through the IPO price 12p and onwards higher.
