Hi EI. Yesterday was a busy day for results generally, but I take your point! I've come to realize its not always a bad sign to have a quiet board, though.

For me this is a long-term SIPP holding, with a great CAGR for dividends, once again evident yesterday, with a 9% increase. Results were a bit of a mixed bag, with underlying eps falling, but free cashflow excellent, supporting that dividend increase and with a positive outlook given.

Perhaps the reason there's very little comment here, is the fact that for most this is a sleep-easy 'buy and forget' share? It really only ever piques my interest when it goes sub £18, when I tend to start looking for a top-up (next week would be nice! :-)).

What's your take?

Not one comment on results for DGE?, that shows how much this appears to
have fallen out of favour with many PI's imv.

Maybe as a DGE holder I'm missing something but I'm struggling to see the link between and oil explorer and DGE (#509). Surely it belongs on the IRG board?

I doubt anyone who looks at this thread will have the slightest interest in a tinpot oil explorer.

£150 million or £200 million? Ennismore seem to have bought Gleneagles at a bargain price!

Drinks giant Diageo has sold the famous Gleneagles Hotel and golf resort in Scotland for an estimated £150 million.

The hotel has been acquired by private investment company Ennismore which owns the Hoxton chain of boutique hotels.

Gleneagles hosted the Ryder Cup last September and a G8 summit 10 years ago.

The hotel was opened in 1924 and has been wholly owned by Diageo since 1984.

The business generated revenues of £43.5 million and an operating profit of £2.6 million in the year to June 2014.

Diageo chief executive, Ivan Menezes, said: "Diageo is proud to have been the owner of Gleneagles but the hotel is not a core business for us and therefore following the success of the Ryder Cup we feel this is an appropriate time to realise value through this transaction.

“We wish Ennismore and all the staff at the hotel a successful future."

The new owner said it would retain the existing staff and make a "significant" investment in "one of the world's most prestigious and recognisable venues".

I suspect that if a bid materialises, it would flush out more suitors - in view of its iconic brands.
