LONDON (ShareCast) - The electromechanical components provider is up 2.5p at 64.5p after it said that sales have increased 2% in the second half, despite flat markets, because it has won franchise extensions for several of its European operations. It said it anticipates a significant improvement in business performance in the next financial year because of increased market share.

See ACAL stakebuilding last week. Rumours Webb/Eaglet is talking with ACAL to offload their 24%.

I bought back in. I haven't been in this since I started this thread Jul last year, made good money then. Even if no takeover, they are seriously positioned when economic recovery occurs.

If Webb is looking to offload then that will help ACAL considerably in any takeover.

a great recovery stock - when recovery starts! it is in industrials sector rather than consumer, margins have held up, turnover bottomed out ? Semiconductor Industry Assoc has hopes of resumption of growth by year end - anybody in the know on this? Any increase in turnover should feed straight thru to profits. watching very carefully at moment.

Tipped by FT this weekend. Anyone notice. Although it states PE at 9.4 compared to Acal at 10 and Abacus at 14. PE in fundamentals at 14+.

A week or so ago the company raised £1.5 million from their directors and staff instead of going to the City and paying huge fees.
Perhaps the staff who were not allowed to buy were buying today in the market.I believe this share to be undervalued and that the staff have invested their money wisely!!
Perhaps they know something.

Favourable comment on Citywire today :

"Citywire Verdict:

The company looks like it will offer a dividend yield of around 2.3%, and it is currently trading at a very reasonable 8.4 times next year’s earnings. One for anyone like Peter Webb, prepared to wait for a cyclical recovery."

I'm out today on the back of this bounce - could be wrong. Up 10.5p lunch time on 49k traded. At a mid price of 73.5p, they are on a prospective P/E of 7 and there are better plays in this sector around at the moment, e.g. NAR, ELH. Also BLK looks interesting with a similar P/E, higher yield and better growth prospects.

Good luck to those holding.

Looks like a few people are getting back in at these levels. Looks a decent recovery play at todays valuation.

Profit warning :

"Pre-tax profits for the year ended 30th September 2001 are now expected to be
approximately £3.5m before exceptional items."

In the interim results :

profiits for the first six months were £2.3m with EPS of 6.3p.

Difficult to judge where the price should be but looks good value at around this price.

keep an eye on this one. bounces quickly and sharply. PE way too low for electronics distributor, even with revised lower earnings eatimates.

The selling has been overdone I reckon - as always. There have been several stocks bouncing for no particular reason recently. Good.
