HoF was a direct rival. Debenhams sales are only going to rise after this. Especially Oxford Street £££;.

It's a big trade ... maybe a holding RNS will be released shortly..
Real shame about HoF this morning .. hopefully at least some of the stores will continue trading but going into administration usually ends with closure

I'm not invested here so I would LOVE IT if Robot and Qantas were right.

However the fact John Lewis are posting bad numbers right now does not bode well in the short term.

We look forward to unveiling the latest progress in the implementation of that strategy at a capital markets event next month.

Does anyone know when this capital market event happens and where it is held?

Bath is a flagship store Nigel. I watched the whole re-development of that part of Bath. Most of the shops there do reasonably well due to the amount of tourists.

Probably DEB's will have to go down the route of less stores is more. Too many of the other provincial stores are empty.

Looks like HoF is going to go into administration by 20 Aug then. For old times sake I have visited Wolverhampton and Worcester in the last week. Previously nice stores run into the ground. Stock shortages. In Wolverhampton they had to unlock the one changing room for me...you feel like a convict. Made my last internet order on HoF. Placed the order Wednesday and not yet despatched. I do think HoF deserves to go under. It has been managed so badly by the Chinese owners. The backlog expenditure in Wolverhampton (the home of Beatties) is eye opening. At the end of the day, whilst you feel for the thousands of kind and professional staff, this is progress in the capitalist world. They have been replaced by something cheaper, better and more relevant. Debenhams is probably next.

Womenswear historically been the busiest but will not make up for lack of sales in other departments.

KNIGEL

HOF lost its way carrying to much debt and a sorry mess. Its so close to administration on a knife edge and in any event half the stores are due to close under the CVA.

Things aren't getting any better on the High Street.

Bath very busy. The HoF store was sadly quiet even if I tried to help with my 2x king size 1000 thread bed sheet purchase 😯

Q,

Not a chance with the dire state of the High Street.

A number of stores must be losing money at the moment, I think we will get a further update in a few weeks time which was hinted by Investor relations a week or two ago.

Consumer sentiment not good at the moment the slump in the £ also negative for Debs.

A bad BREXIT and further slump in consumer spend could be the nail in the coffin.

Fair price at the moment for gamblers nothing over 10 pence and large bets not advised.

It will be interesting to see what is offered for HOF bear in mind Ashley would only offer a pre-pack which was probably £1 !!!
