31/10/2017 12:09 | DEB have a mid season spectacular atm, so had a look for men's fragrances last night, or aftershave as it was called in my day!. Disappointed at the range, found HoF considerably better. It's probably a small part of DEB's business in fairness. | essentialinvestor
31/10/2017 11:54 | They are not in themselves the answer to anything really, just one of several ideas to use space more effectively. Absolutely Edmund and not just about space efficiency but about deepening and enriching the whole experience. I think the idea could have some merit as part of the overall strategy. I think there is a bit of "chain yanking" going on here from some of the nay sayers. Still not close to being a buyer at this stage however. | kazoom
31/10/2017 11:40 | Gyms are a way of utilising underused floor space. They will have showers. They will likely have separate ground floor extrances from the store and from the street - rather like the Greek restaurant attached to my local store. In any case, no-one I know goes to an up-market gym and then goes shopping afterwards without taking a shower first - obviously some of you have very a different style of acquaintances... They are not in themselves the answer to anything really, just one of several ideas to use space more effectively. | edmundshaw
31/10/2017 11:21 | I'm not sure gyms are the way forward either although I doubt they will be rolled out across the country but probably focused on inner city sites. Increasing food, maybe hair salons and focusing on beauty and maybe a wellbeing emphases could well offer something new. They need to replace their homewear department with something else and I think focusing on this will be better use of floor space. | terminated
31/10/2017 10:57 | John Lewis could do with opening some gyms in their stores maybe, upmarket ones of course. | owenski
31/10/2017 10:45 | John Lewis (excluding Waitrose) sales fall again last week -4%. Its been an abysmal October for John Lewis. Last week: Fashion down -1.9% Home Down -2% If John Lewis don't improve soon they could lose money on full year results. | simon templar qc
31/10/2017 10:25 | Coming soon to a DEBs store near you... The sweet stench of sweaty body odour. A truly gag inducing shopping experience as one tries to find an unsold half decent jumper in the latest blue cross sale from piles of unsold DEBs tat. lol | owenski
31/10/2017 09:55 | You can say that again Templar QC ;-) | american idiot
31/10/2017 09:42 | Sergio's strategy is utterly flawed if he thinks gyms are the way forward why doesn't Mike Ashley have them in his stores? It wouldn't surprise me if the idea came from Mike Ashley in the hope it would assist his own goods to be sold more in Debenhams. As for Sergio's view Mike Ashley sees value in Debenhams shares Mike Ashley is sitting on one very large loss at the moment. Bricks and mortar stores are in a declining arena and they simply will not accept this. | simon templar qc

31/10/2017 09:05 | QANTAS Just a couple of points Chat Line - when you call a number from one of those cards you used to find in old telephone booths. This is a forum - grownups chatting about shares. Trolling - comments from masked individuals on Social Media - we are talking about an unloved share. It's not a person or an individual. It's fair game, and of course a little tongue in cheek. Have a nice day old fella me lad! keep the curtains shut and the lights off tonight like last year! | niggle

31/10/2017 07:28 | Morning Debenhams investors. Another down day today ? Give me just ONE good reason to buy today and I will :P | american idiot
31/10/2017 07:27 | How to make money on the stock market - Start by not losing any. lol | owenski
30/10/2017 21:08 | Shorters you are so boring and your post on this chat line don't make any difference to the share price sooner you trolls realise this the better... | qantas
30/10/2017 20:13 | Debenhams stinks anyway, if they have gyms producing sweaty stench it'll just mask the ghastly stench of perfume that those hideous 'beauty stalls' clog the air with, staffed by women who put makeup on with a trowel. Time that DEBS went the way of BHS and the rest of the 60's shopping concept dated awfulness. | owenski
30/10/2017 19:15 | I think the kind of gym goings that don't shower after a session are unlikely to buy into the debenhams brand. I have no idea if you are being serious, it's hard to tell at times, but the gym would not be open plan and probably on a different floor to the food merchants. | terminated
30/10/2017 18:30 | Our Total Futness just launched another atttempt at a cafe, selling healthy meals and a Yogberries. Guess what? It’s completely empty every time I go. People go to the gym to exercise, not shop. If Sergio thinks he’s going to revive this rotting corpse this way he’s an idiot. The closest he gets to going to a gym are those ridiculous joggers he wears with his suit. | niggle
30/10/2017 18:09 | How bad are gym clothes after visiting a gym? Well they "stink" according to this website... This new strategy has not been well thought out imo. Shoppers need to browse and eat in a clean atmosphere and will be put off by the smell of sweaty bodies. | simon templar qc
30/10/2017 17:38 | If Ashley bids he might get this for 65p and if no takers he will at least shake out the shortest increasing the value of his stake. It is odd falling knowing Ashley will be buying 10% over next 4 months. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. | terminated
30/10/2017 17:38 | Debenhams stores to get "sweaty" is their new innovative strategy... Debenhams ceo Sergio Bucher said: “We believe that by teaming with Sweat! we will optimise the space that is available in some of our stores, whilst offering an attractive and credible leisure experience to customers"! Sergio will probably "optimise" quite a lot of space, with this strategy, the general public may avoid the store completely due to its "sweat" filled stores. I would not want to eat with sweaty people nor want to try on clothes in a sweat filled shop. | simon templar qc
30/10/2017 17:00 | You know it, I know it Templar QC. Too many headwinds at present for DEB or any bricks n mortar retailer to make any sustainable shareprice gains. One day, there might be a time to invest here but that time is not now. Still too many risks... Interest rate rise effect on consumer confidence, outcome of Brexit talks as well as the same old structural declines on the high street. Without a doubt DEB are struggling as are many other retailers. Like I said, maybe one day but until then keep tracking and keep your cash safe knowing there is literally no chance of any sustainable upside in the short-term. | american idiot |
