this will be taken over. this company is not some me-too retailer - it holds a very strong position in a strategic market. i am buying for a 700p takeover before year end.

Shareholders need to make the Directors wage bill fall by more than our loss or else they will continue to mis-manage.

Fewer directors with lower pay should make a leaner board than these fat cats.

Well that was pretty nasty, I still really struggle to understand how things can change from "steady as she goes" to the "whole thing has gone to hell in a handbasket" in just 8 weeks.
They must have known there was a high probability they would not meet their target when they issued the statement in July.
There was absolutely no good news in this statement at all and it is clear that the overcapacity in the industry is going to decimate margins for the foreseeable future.
There is no doubt that the divi will be cut now.
I consider myself very lucky that I did not take a stake as I almost did when it got to 725 recently.

Lord Gnome, you might look at DCG, AML, CGL, VOD, HSTN. Not necessarily recommending them but they're worth checking out.

Great call tweak, I bought in recently for the yield. Bailed this morning in favour of easyjet.

I'm not holding, just a question, well done then.
It looked too high risk for me but many PI's were unfortunately attracted
by the dividend.

Of course I was short, you should have people on the ground like I do and I did warn you a couple of weeks ago.

Proves the point I think - cash is becoming technologically obsolete. Pricing is getting more difficult. Cutting the dividend is a major white flag for this company. Makes you wonder what the pricing is like on the BoE contract! Taking this off my watch list.

The only reason I didn't buy any DLAR is because I was waiting to sell something else to raise the funds. That was a very close call. So just where do you invest to secure a decent and safe dividend?

Real shame, as does look like its game over for quite some time re pricing and profitability.

As we all said.
Good luck.

This is more of a fundamentalist news/event-driven thread.

Good to welcome new faces to the thread who can make positive contributions.

Regular updates on how individual positions are going may be of greater interest elsewhere.

Hope you make good money on your trading.

Tweeeeeeeeeeeeek- you say on your post 662 that the deal is nothing special. On the contrary. It shows that the BoE has confidence in DLAR. Had the contract been awarded elsewhere it would send a very strong message to other states that DLAR was not fit for purpose. You seem to have missed the enormity of confidence in the company.......or is wrong? Perhaps someone could tell me one way or another as I believe this is the nub of the share price direction and momentum.

Right.
A short against the market when that opinion pole was published would have been smart.
DLR may do well or not but does not look like shorting territory.

A very upbeat article in today's FT about The Bank note-printing contract most likely going to DLAR.

"De La Rue closes in on BoE print deal"

Page 22.

References a conversation with Investec analyst, Thomas Rands who comments to the effect that the share has been under pressure due to investor concerns about DLAR losing its largest contract. As such, resecuring the contract will alleviate investor concerns.

How right he is!
