27/7/2015 11:24 | the sum is likely to be double that of the current market cap. Fill your boots. | billweb
26/7/2015 14:01 | This litigation company is huge with a great track record. It wins 88.2% of it's cases. With this company parked on my front lawn I would be quaking in my boots. There must be a strong chance that LG will cough up or they will lose in court. There is thus a strong chance DDD will receive a considerable sum when this is settled. This is obviously not reflected in the share price Sooner or later it will be. regards Jan IMO/DYOR | janatha
25/7/2015 12:21 | I think there's some cross-over from 3d to 2d in the core depth sensing technology | kreature
24/7/2015 19:09 | The patent lawsuit is just against LG for 3D TVs that do 2D to 3D conversion. That is a fast shrinking market as few 3D TVs are being sold now. It has nothing to do with video backgrounds. | zipless
24/7/2015 19:03 | It's fun, but few people are bothered about the background when on video. The market is just the ones who are bothered. | zipless
24/7/2015 17:44 | I think you can be converted Zipless ; ) These guys have something potentially ubiquitous for use in video conferencing (even if it's just an option), and the patents must be strong and meaningful for Quinn Emanuel to take on the case today. If you nose around linkedin, I think there's more on the way | kreature
24/7/2015 12:16 | okay it's niche but it's such good fun, and instantly provides a talking point on a talkative platform like Skype. With patent protection, I feel that there's a chance that someone large will pick this up. | kreature
24/7/2015 09:34 | Yes. It is a nice product, but a niche market. It has been that way for DDD forever. Unfortunately investors seem to fall in love with technology and forget the business model. It is what makes people lose money on many tech stocks. | zipless
24/7/2015 07:16 | A David and Goliath scenario if ever. DDD Group must be very confident of success as they have taken on some big hitting lawyers to sue LG Electronics. DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD; OTCQX: DDDGY), the advanced imaging and 3D solutions company, confirms that it's Australian subsidiary, Dynamic Digital Depth Research Pty Ltd ("DDD"), has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles alleging that LG Electronics' ("LG") range of 3D televisions infringe three of DDD's U.S. patents. The complaint alleges that the automatic 2D to 3D conversion function performed by LG's range of 3D televisions infringes the claims of DDD's U.S. Patent No. 6,477,267 "Image Conversion and Encoding Techniques", U.S. Patent No. 6,496,598 "Image Processing Method and Apparatus", and U.S. Patent No. 7,489,812 "Conversion and Encoding Techniques". The complaint notes that despite the fact that LG licensed DDD's TriDef 3D solutions for use with their 3D personal computer products and their 3D mobile phones, the engineering team responsible for the development of LG's 3D televisions pursued the development of their 3D TVs in full knowledge of the existence of DDD's patents and technologies. As a result, the complaint alleges that the LG has demonstrated a pattern of blatantly disregarding DDD's intellectual property and by doing so, LG is getting a "free ride" on DDD's decades of research and development, and unfairly competing in the marketplace since first announcing their range of 3D TVs in late 2009. The complaint seeks injunctive relief and unspecified monetary damages and contends that since LG's infringement has been, and continues to be, willful, DDD is entitled to seek treble damages and an award of its attorneys' fees, costs, and expenses. DDD also announces that it has retained Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP ("Quinn Emanuel") to work alongside Dominion Harbor Group to protect DDD's intellectual property rights and enforce its patent portfolio. The Quinn Emanuel team engaged by DDD who are working on the complaint against LG includes partners William Price (Washington, DC), Alan Whitehurst (Washington, DC), Amar Thakur (Los Angeles), and Marissa Ducca (Washington, DC). | zeuss1
23/7/2015 23:41 | I think you may have ballsed this one up spectacularly zip. Think about how useful a mobile green-screen will be for conferencing and gaming. They'll improve their algorithms which already have patent protection or applications, then just one major licence agreement and I think the share price will move up strongly, might even do 100% from here.... | kreature
22/7/2015 22:40 | Yup. Another way of DDD losing money. | zipless
22/7/2015 13:54 | probably only mirada.tv make sharper promo videos than this on AIM. Nice video: | kreature
03/7/2015 14:01 | Planning to go long as planned.. -------------------- Quadrise Fuels. Fuels for the future - QFI TradeYodha - 18 Jun 2015 - 20:25:52 - 28549 of 28703 I could not resist myself looking at LSE:DDD. It is actually a very good opportunity to go LONG for me. As soon as it takes a little pull back to the down side (it looks overbought at the moment) to give me little cheaper prices (around 2.5-2.7p), I can start a LONG position in it. My long targets will be 3.7p followed by 4.5p and then 5.3p It is coming out of its "despair" state. Good One. Thanks for the suggestion. 30/6/2015 21:09 | 3D is dead in the water. I was told in Curry's that almost no one asks for it now. I will be surprised if any TV makers are offering it soon. | zipless
30/6/2015 20:23 | I've just been looking at some of the latest, entry-level 4k TVs (still cost £1k+). I was interested to note that many of them, including Samsung's, don't offer any 3D capabilities. Presumably the manufacturers have dropped 3D from these entry-level sets to help keep the cost down. hxxp://www.johnlewis | dvda
30/6/2015 13:51 | It is still just a gimmick. Hardly something to base a business on. | zipless
29/6/2015 10:28 | What about if it were just integrated into Skype one day, so there was no messing around with setting it up? I've used it with Skype calling relatives overseas and it really is great fun to use cos you can put yourself anywhere on the planet, including over your own landscape photos. | kreature
29/6/2015 09:53 | I saw iit already. It is a small niche market for short term gimmicks. | zipless
29/6/2015 09:42 | ok zipless, I appreciate that you're bearish - take a look at the video above though - very clever and the antialiasing, feathering also really clever, the filters make the whole thing look real. imo that tech has the potential to go viral. not saying that it will, but it has the potential to imv | kreature
29/6/2015 08:42 | Another series of pointless deals that won't generate any significant money. It is always the same with DDD. | zipless
29/6/2015 06:47 | Using TriDef SmartCam with Skype......... | kreature
28/6/2015 12:54 | Zip KapChat is on the way which is software for creating group photographs, and it is software, rather than middleware I notice that DDD have just registered the domain name Kap.Chat along with a few others. | kreature
28/6/2015 12:46 | My opinion is still the same. Even with the 2D products, they are dependent on other companies' products. They don't sell an original direct to buyers. This company is a doomed and taking a long time to die. It has always looked to me as one of the worst investments that exist. | zipless
27/6/2015 18:30 | Zip..........you seem to be ignoring the 2D products that do not rely on such dedicated hardware. It's the new 2D products like SmartCam that are at the heart of this AIM recovery play, although the 3D products still provide revenue at 99% margin. Wait for the official XSplit/Smartcam launch at Gamescon in Germany on August 5th. Apparently there will be lots of coverage of the Smartcam in action. In the meantime perhaps we might enjoy a few more director buys (hopefully over 1m shares), and a few more 2D partnerships or license agreements - ATB, DYOR etc | kreature
27/6/2015 15:11 | The business model is of necessity that DDD is dependent on other emerging technologies which fail themselves. 3D TV, 3D PCs, 3D laptops, 3D mobiles, 3D games etc. The company is now heading towards another series of unstable technologies. DDD is an enabling technology with no market of its own. Each of the markets that it has enabled has failed. I see no longer term future for DDD. It is fast running out of market sectors to operate in. | zipless |
