Complete picture and audio post for ITV’s reboot of the classic gameshow.

Post Sequence Post

Client September Films

Brief Complete picture and audio post for ITV’s reboot of the classic gameshow.

How it was done Sequence head of post Kabir Jutla devised an end-to-end file-based workflow for the recording of nine feeds to an EVS server at The London Studios. This was then transferred to Sequence, where it was picked up by Frank Piazza and Richard Dudley.

To meet the tight delivery deadlines for the work, Sequence worked at DNx120 through to delivery, saving valuable time in the edit schedule.

Each of the seven episodes was delivered to the DDP spec via Media Composer, while QC and PSE testing were completed using VidCheck. Dubbing mixer Jonathan Last, of audio partner Wise Buddha, completed the mix.

Watch it 10 September, 8pm, ITV

The Code, Rake and The Moodys scoop top awards at the 2014 AWGIEs

Miniseries The Code took the top prize at the 2014 Australian Writer’s Guild Awards on Friday night. The Playmaker series, which premieres on ABC1 Australia on September 21st, was the winner of the Original Television Miniseries Award, and also took the Major AWGIE - given to the best of the best in all mediums. Many congratulations to Blake Ayshford, Shelley Birse and Justin Monjo for this hugh accolade.

Rake, now in Series 3, continues to garner awards. Well done to Peter Duncan for Best Television Series for the episode ‘Their Lordships V Finnane’. Rake has previously won a number of awards and we are thrilled that this award recognises that the series just gets better and better.

In comedy The Moodys took all three nominations for Best Narrative Comedy and won with episode ‘Australia Day’. Congratulations to Trent O'Donnell and Phil Lloyd for taking home the big prize, and to cast member Patrick Brammall, who wrote one of the nominated scripts. Brammall also received the award on Trent and Phil's behalf, reading out their acceptance speech which detailed why his script was no good. The other two nominations were for 'Sean's Day in Court' - Patrick Brammall and 'Commitments' - Trent O'Donnell and Phil Lloyd.

DCD upbeat

By StockMarketWire

DCD Media first half was in line with expectations set out in the announcements of its final results for the year to end of December and the board remains cautiously optimistic.

The company says the board has continued to focus on developing the rights and licensing division and rationalising the production entities while building a sustainable business.

It says that, as anticipated, trading remains difficult in the production divisions, but the board is cautiously optimistic.

DCD Rights continues to perform on budget and to grow through winning new distribution contracts both at home and overseas. Gross value of acquisitions to date this year is up by 30% on 2013 and the group looks forward to new product launches at MIPCOM in Cannes in October.

Chief executive David Craven said: "The board is aware of the significant decline in the group's share price over recent months and I would like to assure all shareholders that we continue to work to deliver sustained growth and shareholder value across a balanced business."

No wonder stocks around, pays your money and takes a chance, Cravens first interview with Broadcast news, or any interview in 18 months. time for the turn.
You all know my view in the low share price and only 414000 shares in issue, and the fact that craven is going for share holder value, this will move very fast when a bit of buying comes in. Not a trading stock, but a rewarding one over a few years, QXL all over again.

No not full on brainwashed just sharing my views with the few still here who have lost money, may well be sold for nothing, loss making company, production and employees costs, all saved.
I have said its not a trading stock, but for the few who buy in at this level, 12 months on could look a lot different.
I will keep my finding to my self in future.

You seem full on brainwashed and you of all people should know that regular
news updates mean nothing when it comes to profits.
Why do you expect people to get involved in a stock with a huge spread and when
it turns bad impossible to sell. It's a miracle the bid has doubled from the low
but when the mm's stop bidding for stock then you know what will happen.
Matchlight will be sold for next to nothing, like everything else in Dcd it is losing money.

The deal to sell Matchlight is done.

This comes after Matchlight bosses applied to for a Companies House Certificate of Incorporation, which allows directors to register new companies, for Matchlight Productions Limited.

The filing revealed Matchlight creative director Ross Wilson would own 48%, with managing director David Smith and development director Jacqui Hayden both taking 26% stakes.

Just need the terms now.

Warwick Davis ''thrilled'' to host new series of classic game show Celebrity Squares

By Claire Hodgson

Actor and comedian Davis describes the series as "Noughts & Crosses with a celebrity twist!"

Celebrity Squares is coming back! And Life's Too Short star Warwick Davis will be the host.

The actor originally fronted a pilot episode in November, telling fans there were more episodes to come - and he was right.

The new series will follow the same format of contestants trying to complete rows on a giant board of famous faces, by deciding whether they agree or disagree with the answers the celebrities have given to general knowledge questions.

Davis announced the news on Twitter, saying: "I am thrilled to announce that I'm to host a reboot of the classic gameshow, @CelebSquares - Noughts & Crosses with a celebrity twist! @ITV"

The star, whose career includes appearances on stage in Spamalot and in films including Willow and Return of the Jedi, starred alongside Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant in Life's Too Short.

The late Bob Monkhouse presented the original version of Celebrity Squares which ran from 1975 to 1979 and then made a comeback from 1993 to 1997.

It is based on the American show Hollywood Squares and the new series is taking contestant applications until May 2 on the ITV website.

No one has seen it "T", or looking at it, when the RNSs start to come out you will not be able to pick up any shares at this price.

I am in for the big time with this one, every one is missing whats going on, not for the short term profit, this will pay off my house and my kids homes.
In at 0.27p, 414000 shares in issue, a high of 69p, 450 million shares in issue or £690 per share.

This to me says it all.

DCD vows to keep producing

4 September, 2014 | By Matthew Campelli

DCD Media has reaffirmed its commitment to production despite agreeing to sell Glasgow-based indie Matchlight and increasing its emphasis on global distribution.

Broadcast revealed last week that the executive team at factual producer Matchlight is set to complete a management buyout, while DCD has made no secret of its plans to focus on DCD Rights.

It has led some close to the company to question whether it will continue to invest in production, but DCD chief executive David Craven said it “remains committed” to programme-making.

Craven highlighted its focus on cultivating London-based production arms September Films and Rize USA, led by head of entertainment Bob Massie and creative director Sheldon Lazarus respectively.

He claimed that production at these companies “has never been more active”, pointing to a raft of undisclosed projects that “we can reasonably expect will be greenlit”.

September Film’s revival of classic gameshow Celebrity Squares is due to TX on ITV next week, while it is expected that Rize USA’s Liberty Of London will get a second run on Channel 4.

In addition, Craven said the group would be making “more funding available for production development”, while confirming that there were 50 projects on its slate receiving “broadcaster engagement”.

He said DCD Media was “well positioned” to enhance its production output, adding: “We are continuously scouting for producers interested in developing joint venture arrangements with us, and talented, enthusiastic producers know where to look to develop their businesses.”

September Films USA suffered the loss of Bridezillas in September 2013, which led to job losses. DCD spent £100,000 on redundancies last year.

But Craven was upbeat about DCD’s US operations, adding: “In the US, we continue to develop both new ideas and our own formats with networks, which we are hopeful will bear fruit in the near future.”

Addressing the impending Matchlight sale, Craven said: “The incumbent management team are best placed to take the business forward”.

He added: “The board has clearly set out its goal to improve its quality of earnings, so while Matchlight provides revenue to the group, it does not deliver sufficient synergies within DCD Media, nor has it been profitable.”

However, he stressed that DCD and Matchlight will retain a longterm distribution relationship.

DCD’s sales arm generated total revenues of £5.8m last year, up from £4m in 2012. Production revenues fell by almost £4m to £8m in 2013.

DCD moved to reassure investors last week after its share price fell more than 60% in three months.
