03/5/2011 07:44 | Results here in May, reckon buying may start soon. Trading well in-line they say, low PE, loads of cash, ISA-able and in bid talks as a bonus. CR | cockneyrebel

23/4/2011 10:51 | Great find, thanks CR. Having only recently bought my first ipad and ebook I am astounded at the potential for those that get it right in this space. The opportunity for colabortive learning in the academic sphere is great for Dawson. I was looking back through reports and RNSs today. Im not worried at all now by the continued Schroders selling, when you realise how much they were selling before the price spike on the bid news. They went from 17% down to 10% over the previous year, so as speculated they either didnt rate the company, or had other reasons for selling, concentration risk, diversification etc. The pace/volume of selling has actually slowed. Also spotted something i havent seen before in the last annual report, a commitment for executives to reach a holding of shares of an equal value to their basic pay over a 5 year period from appointment. In the past this would have represented a small number of shares or percentage of the mkt cap, but for the CEO Hugh Cawley this now represents a commitment to acquire approx 2.5% of the company (assuming the current share price) over the next 3 years. So bid prospects aside I wonder if this is something on his agenda? though I guess 3 years ahead is a long time for this company when it looks back through its experiences in the last 3 years. | davydoo
23/4/2011 09:58 | Picked this up on a search - not seen it before: Major Update for Dawsonera from Dawson Books and Semantico Announced CR | cockneyrebel
21/4/2011 11:36 | It's wanting to breakout of the pennant formation, just needs a bit of volume to assist it... (a t/o update could also help too ;) ) Uploaded with | sportbilly1976
21/4/2011 09:12 | grantley, ...interesting find...if libraries start to offer this, imagine how many copies they would need to purchase initially to fully stock their e-shelves? I'm assuming they wouold get a hefty discount (bulk order / public body etc)...but even so. | sportbilly1976
21/4/2011 07:56 | Interesting story about Amazon working with the organisation that runs the USA libraries e-book system to offer borrowing of e-books via the Kindle and Kindle apps. Mentioned in The Times Business section today and USA newspapers. From WSJ Bookworms who own Amazon.com Inc.'s popular Kindle electronic reader will finally be able to borrow digital books from public libraries. Amazon said Wednesday that it will launch the public-library feature-which gives the Kindle the same library-borrowing abilities as competing e-reading devices such as Barnes & Noble Inc.'s Nook and Sony Corp.'s Reader-later this year. "We think customers are going to love this new library feature," said a spokeswoman for the Seattle-based retailer. The move is likely to have major repercussions for public libraries and the digital-reading market generally, since Amazon currently dominates the e-book industry and its actions in the space are closely watched. There are an estimated 7.5 million Kindles in the U.S., which gives Amazon a two-thirds share of the $1 billion digital-book market, said Forrester Research analyst James McQuivey. | grantley
20/4/2011 15:00 | good job im not a seller then :) | davydoo
20/4/2011 14:50 | davy, there's selling at 8.1p by Schroders....you & I don't get offered that price (the sells today on plus have been at 7.905) friends & favours.... ;) | sportbilly1976
20/4/2011 14:25 | So if theres selling at 8.1 and buying at 8.25 shouldnt the mid have moved up? | davydoo
20/4/2011 14:23 | There was the 300k buy on PLUS for 8.25p yesterday. But I would have expected an announcement (maybe still to come) as its approx 0.5% of the co. Unless its a new holder. | davydoo
20/4/2011 13:43 | hmmm...they got 8.1p. a signal perhaps that the buyer will have to cough up a bit more for further stock. | abc125
20/4/2011 13:38 | Schroder's rns puts pay to my 300k rollover theory yesterday then... so who bought them? | sportbilly1976
20/4/2011 09:48 | Re Schroders, it does seem odd to so frequently dispose of small amounts, particularly considering they need to declare it each day due to the bid situation. Im sure its a common tactic for large holders to drip slowly out of illiquid stocks but usually no one knows theyre doing it. As for the reasons, i wonder whether the jump in share price means the value of their holding has breached some internal control, e.g. percentage of an investment fund, or some form of prudence policy to take gains, or maybe simply they are facing some redemptions and a need for cash in the fund, and while there;s Pi buyers they can use the liquidity to exit at good prices. If they really thought it was a bad pick, or reached its max value youd expect larger sales wouldnt you? | davydoo
19/4/2011 14:06 | just seen the 300k come through lse...rollover then? although with sell @ 9:47 and buyback at 10:43?? cheeky MM's splitting them like that ;) | sportbilly1976
19/4/2011 14:02 | davy, trying to work out Schroder's rationale for this selling....consideri why not just hold off for a bit and sell some at 10p/12p rather than 8p? | sportbilly1976
19/4/2011 14:01 | nice delayed 300k buy just showing on plus at 8.25p | sportbilly1976
19/4/2011 12:29 | Thanks sportbilly Looks like schroders did sell 200k yesterday, but got 8p, not the 7.25 someone got. Will be interesting to see any other announcements before 3pm Price is likely to stay static though against this regular selling | davydoo |
