14/3/2011 22:43 | As Billy has alluded to, Bloomsbury may be the interested party. How much is DWN worth to them? At least 15p per share I reckon. The Times Amazon recently reported that sales of e-books were outselling paperbacks. Now Bloomsbury Publishing reports that sales of individual e-books are running at just 10% of total print sales. Bloomsbury has been gradually shifting the focus of its business towards reference and professional publishing. It was reporting figures at the top end of City expectations. Adjusted pre-tax profits were up 9% to £8.4m in the year to end-December. The shares, up 3.75p to 119.75p, are selling on almost 13 times' earnings for the year just completed. High enough for now. Buy. | abc125
11/3/2011 11:11 | yes good spot,.. Kindles and iPads - tablets are driving this... their ebooks will also drive educational savings | jailbird
11/3/2011 11:05 | Just a thought, but could our bidder be Bloomsbury Publishing (BMY)? Just read this article and it would seem their move to eBooks could be quickened with the acquisition of DWN..and with £34m of cash on the balance sheet they could comfortably affort it | sportbilly1976
09/3/2011 08:50 | well now we know what the 4*100k trades were the other day - Schroders reducing by 400k | sportbilly1976
08/3/2011 09:05 | On reflection whilst it is totally correct they could not issue shares because of the disparity between the nominal value and the market price they CAN in fact issue shares simply by issuing them at a 10p value | solarno lopez
08/3/2011 07:49 | Thats why I said other than DODS but there is a way DODS could mount a bid | solarno lopez
08/3/2011 02:28 | Some dodgy little company with a picture of Gordon Brown on their home page, 25% owned by Lord 'I promise to pay tax' Ashcroft and a market cap of £10m. What makes you think they would or could buy DWN, solarno? They can't issue stock to buy us because their shares are trading below par. | zangdook
07/3/2011 22:01 | who is DODs? | romeoandjuliet
07/3/2011 13:13 | Sorry guys I may have missed the answer but I keep asking have we anybody in mind as a likely bidder other than DODS | solarno lopez
07/3/2011 13:11 | Interesting bit of buying going on today. CR | cockneyrebel
07/3/2011 12:10 | Any potnetial carry across from PSON's offer for EDD this am? EDD - 125p close on Friday & 200p offer this am. (nice premium) | sportbilly1976
06/3/2011 19:07 | John Lee was selling ALU at about 130p - not sure he's the greatest timer of buying and selling imo. CR | cockneyrebel
06/3/2011 19:01 | Mentioned by John Lee in the FT. Not with any huge enthusiasm, however. I guess he held through the big drop when the magazine business got shafted by the competition... | edmundshaw
06/3/2011 16:33 | seems schroder is just playing with us less than £20k to create doubt, well? | dazzaa
04/3/2011 15:55 | Added a few more lately. Hard work it was. | edmundshaw
04/3/2011 13:15 | Well there's no chance of buying this on an agreed bid imo - not unless you want to pay about double imo. CR | cockneyrebel
04/3/2011 13:12 | Schroders seem intent on reducing down - 2* 100k in two days | sportbilly1976
02/3/2011 15:04 | edmund, now's your chance... MM's taking it down quickly now on selling, and up quickly on any buying - obviously wanting a level book. | sportbilly1976
01/3/2011 12:20 | current trading in line with expectations would do me. Still half a fair price, even without a bid. IMO... Also wanted to add a few more, CR. Not sure we'll get another chance. :-( | edmundshaw
01/3/2011 11:10 | not appearing to be much stock around...25k shifting the price | sportbilly1976
01/3/2011 10:38 | either that or current trading is above expectations - could get an rns in 4 weeks if the previous years are anything to go by. i was hoping to add a few more on that little dip of the last few days.....ahh well. | abc125
01/3/2011 10:21 | 2 x 50K yesterday and a 50K today - someone's keen suddenly - bid agreed and leaking out? CR | cockneyrebel
25/2/2011 07:48 | Please can somebody tell me who is expected to bid | solarno lopez
24/2/2011 20:53 | At under 8p, cheap, no argument there. Chips well overpriced in comparison :) The last update was good, and the bid situation is ongoing, so I added a few. | edmundshaw
24/2/2011 19:58 | yep, I think there was nowt else to say so soon after the previous one 10 days ago or so. looking rather cheap tho, bid or no bid imo. Think I prefer to hold based on the fact they are cheap and that any day you could get an RNS saying agreed bid at 'x' pence a share - and jut wait for these to rally ahead of the next time point, which as you say isin about 5 weeks time.
