20/12/2018 16:56 | This from the Times today. Jet2 will be OK but not FW, I fear Of course, some Brexiteers do acknowledge this, hence the recent discussion about managed no deal: the idea that the EU will agree to a series of side deals to keep trade flowing. The EU attempted to slay this unicorn yesterday by publishing some of its own no deal plans. These included measures to allow flights between the UK and EU to continue, while prohibiting British carriers from flying between EU destinations; measures to allow British road haulage companies to deliver loads to the EU but not to pick up loads on their return journeys; new rules providing continuity in access to UK derivatives clearing services for one year. It also warned that all live animals and animal products would need to be checked at the border and that member states should be ready to apply the EU’s customs code, which would require the application of the EU’s external tariffs and origin checks. That is a recipe for near-certain chaos at British ports. | woozle1

20/12/2018 14:20 | Defo closer to the bottom. Chaotic Brexit would be bad for FW as there would be less chilled food to be refrigerated and distributed to the supermarkets. Pretty sure that there would agreements in place to keep planes flying. Army on the streets, food shortages (we've started stockpiling), lorries backing up to the M20, medicine shortages, the govt the biggest fridge buyer. Can't recall this being on the side of the red bus! w1 | woozle1
20/12/2018 13:05 | Yes Meljiman, FW seems to be mostly intra-UK distribution, with a some parts related to imports/exports. They don't break it out. From annual report: "These distribution facilities sit in the heart of the county’s fruit growing areas and provide packing and distribution services for this important local industry and for businesses importing fruit and produce from across the English Channel". | wagnerlove
20/12/2018 12:44 | Fowler Welch is UK delivery based so mostly unaffected by events at Dover. | meijiman
20/12/2018 12:29 | In the event of a chaotic Brexit it is also worth thinking about the part of the buisiness we never talk about on here: Fowler Welch. A very small part of the overall pie granted, but £170m of sales operating on a razor-thin margin might get into trouble if UK supermarket supply chains are messed up. I will admit I have no idea what lines of lorrys at Dover etc would do to FW. | wagnerlove
20/12/2018 12:15 | Thanks WL, Yep makes sense and reasonble I wasn't expecting your calculations to be bias. Leaves a bit on the downside and if things get messy in january..may go under the x2. But feeling that we are much closer to the bottom than the top..cheers Snk | snorkelparker
20/12/2018 12:08 | Art 50 will be extended and who knows what happens then: GE or People's Vote. Corbyn will not be PM and that is my only prediction; unless he has damascene conversion to EU and another referendum. Peak Corbyn passed at the last GE. People will still go on holidays and more will choose Jet2's keenly priced packages. w1 | woozle1 |
