21/10/2002 16:57 | RNS Number:7475C Danka Business Systems PLC 21 October 2002 Under embargo until: 3.00pm 21 October 2002 Danka Business Systems PLC $7 million Contract Win to Upgrade Humana's Document Output Systems - Danka @ the Desktop solution will enhance functionality, improve productivity, and reduce costs - Danka Business Systems PLC, a leading independent global provider of office imaging systems and services, today announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract with Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) to upgrade that firm's office imaging equipment at locations across the United States and to provide all installation, maintenance, and supply services during that period. The estimated value of the contract, based on current volume projections, exceeds $7 million. The Danka @ the DesktopTM solution calls for Danka to replace much of Humana's older analogue equipment with network-connected Toshiba(R) digital systems, including multifunction, colour, and high-volume devices. The upgrade will enable Humana to integrate most of its copy, print, fax, and scan capabilities - improving employee productivity and significantly reducing the overall equipment footprint. Danka's recently formed U.S. Professional Services operation will install and connect the new systems, while its highly regarded U.S. Technical Services group will provide all required maintenance and supplies during the term of the contract. Danka will also oversee user training. "Humana is a forward-looking company that has embraced new technologies, and we are pleased to partner with them on the Humana Print Output Project," said Todd Mavis, chief operating officer of Danka's U.S. Group. "Danka was selected for this important initiative because of our ability to develop and implement a high-value solution that expands Humana's capabilities while simultaneously reducing their overall document costs." The Humana Print Output Project is an initiative to rightsize and upgrade Humana's print infrastructure. The project will be managed by Danka's U.S. Enterprise Group, which specialises in providing integrated solutions to more complex businesses with multiple locations, in collaboration with Humana's IT team. Equipment upgrades will be made at Humana's offices in 18 states, featuring Toshiba's e-STUDIO series of workgroup multifunction devices, high-volume systems, and colour units. As a leading independent provider of copiers and printers, Danka offers best-of-breed imaging products that provide its clients with choice and flexibility. "The Humana contract epitomises what Danka @ the Desktop is all about," noted Donald W. Thurman, Danka's chief growth and marketing officer. "By bringing together several of Danka's substantial resources, including the connectivity expertise of our Professional Services group, we will deliver immediate annual cost savings of 18% to Humana. In addition, the upgrade will provide Humana with a platform for further enhancements to their document processes, including the installation of software to provide improved resource utilisation and cost tracking." -ends- | ![]() m roberts | |
