Hallett - thanks for explanation, confirmed by Paul Dumond quote below

'The reason for the difference you have noted is that the shares in question are denominated in dollars. Under UK GAAP the exchange differences on the dollar amounts of underlying capital are included in the line 'additional financial cost of non-equity shares'.

During the period to June there was an exchange gain exceeding the cost of the dividend, resulting in the credit of £3,708,000. When the accounts are stated in dollars no equivalent exchange difference arises. I hope this explanation clarifies matters.'

I would have thought that they should have highlighted it as an exchange difference as it is exceptional and the impact is £6.7M without which the results would have been only £1.2M in profit, or equivalent to 0.46p eps (0.35p diluted) not the quoted 3.1p.

Will wait for the CC before making any decisions.

phook it bombed after the hype and speculation drove the price up. This time round there has been no such hype as the results were sneaked out.
