Cyan meets with India's Minister of State for Power
Cyan Holdings plc (AIM:CYAN.L), the integrated system and software design company delivering mesh based flexible wireless solutions for utility metering and lighting control, announces that Cyan's Executive Chairman, John Cronin participated in a Round Table event with Mr J M Scindia, Minister of State for Power, Government of India.
The Round Table event, organised by the department for UK Trade and Investment, was held in London on Friday 13 September. John had the opportunity to highlight Cyan's progress to date in India and reinforce Cyan's position within the smart metering eco-system with successful pilot deployments of low-power smart metering in high-density urban areas across India.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Power also released its 'Smart Grid Vision and Roadmap for India(1) 'earlier this month. In his message Mr Scindia describes the roadmap as being "aligned to the Ministry of Power's overarching policy of Access, Availability and Affordability of Quality Power for all." He continues, "This roadmap has placed highest importance to providing supply of electricity to all households by 2017 through smart grid technologies."
3(rd) World Smart Grid Conference
Last week, Cyan participated in the 3(rd) World Smart Grid Conference held in New Delhi, India. Shiv Kaushik, Country Manager in India, chaired the session 'Smart IC Technologies for Advanced Metering Infrastructure and presented 'Smart Metering Deployments'. Cyan also had a stand in the exhibition where visitors could meet Cyan's team in India.
ISGF webinar
In February this year Cyan's application to become an 'International Member' was approved by the Board of Governors of the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF). As a member Cyan was invited to host a webinar, 'Last Mile Connectivity for Smart Metering', earlier this month.
The ISGF is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative of the Ministry of Power (Government of India) for the accelerated development of smart grid technologies in the Indian power sector. It was launched in May 2010 to help the Indian power sector to deploy smart grid technologies in an efficient, cost effective, innovative and scalable manner by bringing together all key stakeholders and enabling technologies. The forum's members include public and private utilities and various industry leaders including metering manufacturers and system integrators.
John Cronin, Executive Chairman of Cyan, commented: "I am pleased to report to shareholders that Cyan is maintaining its technological, product and thought leadership in the field of smart metering. The opportunity to speak directly with the Indian minister proved extremely useful in terms of highlighting Cyan's progress to date and ensuring Cyan is well placed to capitalise on the acceleration towards smart metering in India.
"I am also pleased to report that the Company was invited to take part in the 3(rd) World Smart Grid conference and has now become an International Member of the India Smart Grid Forum. All these activities give me further confidence for the future of Cyan."
