For information

The estimated w/e figures for the US release of "Greatest Movie" are now available.

$135,000 from 18 theatres - averaging $7500 per theatre.

Considering the nature of the film and when compared to say "Water for Elephants" which took $17.5m from 2817 theatres averaging $6212, I'd say it was a pretty good 1st w/e result.

While we're on the subject of theatre/cinema takings, I have to say I was gobsmacked and very disappointed at the poor UK interest for "Ironclad" when that was recently released. Just my opinion.

Altoona , PA to rename itself -for 60 days - as 'POM Wonderful presents The Greatest Movie ever sold', PA, for $25000.

The paragraph below was taken from wikipedia:

..."To promote itself as well as the film, the City of Altoona agreed to change its name temporarily to the title of the film and be known as Pom Wonderful Presents the Greatest Movie Ever Sold, PA for 60 days for a fee of $25,000. The city plans to hold a ceremony on April 27 to salute the documentary, to be followed by a screening.[4]"...

Just a couple of follow-up articles for those of you who want to read them on Spurlock/Greatest Movie.

There seem to be - to me at least - a larger than normal (US) press interest in this film, obviously because of the subject matter - I suppose it makes for interesting dinner table discussion - but just how much CMCP can benefit from it in sales is yet to be seen. For the full array, just google it.

Truth be told diesel, I had decided not to post anything at all, that's why some of those articles are at least 8 days old but it's Easter, the markets are closed and the resident seller can sit and twiddle his/her thumbs in the meantime.

Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah !!!

The sun must be getting to me !

CMCP selling "United" world-wide starring David Tennant. Telefilm airs on the BBC in the UK on Sunday.

At least it's not another out-and-out documentary.

I should think this should sell quite well.

Just goes to show how well-thought-of 'Republic of Doyle' is by the Canadian government.

..."$1.5 million in 2011-12 and an additional $1.5 million in 2012-13 has been allocated for season three of Republic of Doyle." ...

excerpt taken from the 2011 Budget under 'Standing strong on cooperation'.

Also a short quote from Allan Hawco re the above

I've just looked back at the original article about 'xtreme taxidermy' and after the initial pilot, 13 was the number of episodes being touted. Now it seems they've decided on 8. Could it have been 13 x 45 min which is now 8 x 1 hr or did they just reduce the number of episodes for Series 1 to see initial audience response ? ... I'm guessing the latter.

Here's the original article:

The bit I don't understand in the above article is the sentence re multi-year extension. CFL as was, originally signed a 5 yr deal with Collins, has that now been extended after just 2 years ?

Below is a Worldscreen article elaborating a bit on the subject and below that the original 2009 article.

Animal Planet is getting real with taxidermy
Cabler greenlights new series 'Dead'

Animal Planet has greenlit eight hourlong episodes of taxidermy reality series "Romance Is Dead" (working title) from reality shingle Collins Avenue and exec producer Jeff Collins.

Series is set to air in the fourth quarter of this year.

Collins has entered into a multi-year extension of his deal with Content Media, which acquired a 50% stake in his shingle Collins Avenue in 2009.

The show, set in Romance, Ark., follows taxidermist Daniel Ross as he runs family business X-treme Taxidermy with his wife LaDawn and three sons. Together, the family and employees specialize in reassembling family pets, including a chihuahua, a goat and a poodle.

I'm going to be a bit contrary here...although I still hold a tiny amount of this stock, fortunately my others have done quite well, I still keep an eye on this one. I believe that this now may offer a buying op., yes the management are overpaid and have carried on regardless of shareholder value but at this price it is not valuing the stability and small recovery that is underway. The film business is not the powerhouse here the tv and increasingly the digital platform are the earners here. They have assets in Phase 4, Collins Av, and some other production tyeups. The debt level is slowly improving but the this is still a huge drain on the business. Having said that the share price is at this level because no one is interested, that doesn't mean that there isn't value that could be unlocked. I have a couple of grands worth of these and in the coming weeks may well add a few, by no means a main holding but at 1p could see these improving vastly on any small amount of good news, results should add some interest.

Good to see the change in name and epic code has had a scintillating effect on the share price. At least with the CFL graph we could have a nostalgic look back at the odd price rise...

no excuse now for not having a token share purchase by the management.

Along with E1 Entertainment, the following would be in line for contract-related payments...Phase 4 named:

..."In a list of non-store lease agreements submitted April 2 to U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York, Blockbuster cited myriad contracts the new owner(s) would assume following a successful bid.
