TT Energy Conference

Dr. The Hon. Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.

Updated On: Feb 4th 2019.

“However, there were other challenges and the early operators realized as many do today, that T&T geological formations are exceedingly complex. This necessitated lengthy and costly coring operations to acquire the information required to delineate the lenticular reservoirs. It required a new technology- Electrical Logging-which helped to resolve formation complexity and eliminate the need to take expensive cores. During this period, the logging suite was increased by the introduction of the Sidewall Coring Tool which provided depth–accurate core samples. These technologies and other inventions enabled the industry to survive and flourish at a time when there was a global economic depression.

By the 1950s, the industry moved offshore and encountered a new level of technical and logistical challenges. However, the impending electronic age and the advent of computers brought about a positive change in oilfield technology and facilitated this new development.”

Well worth a read.

RE: Maiden's Prayer Answered

NOTE THE FOLLOWING WORDING ON NEW PRACTICES .......

With an existing good coverage of 3D seismic, the area is ready for a new approach to exploration.

Through a fully-funded 2019 work programme, alongside undertaking further analysis of good quality 3D seismic and other data, the Company plans to drill the first exploration well in 2019.

On-trend structures offshore have yielded major oil fields such as the Soldado Main, Soldado South West and Soldado West within 12 km of the South West Peninsula. It is Columbus’s view that similar structures may lie onshore beneath the SWP, presenting significant exploration opportunity in the area. Any successful discovery/appraisal can be brought onto early production at a low cost due to the presence of existing Company operated oil production and sales capabilities and other locally available hydrocarbon infrastructure.

Company interpretations includes twelve mapped prospects each having volumes of between 20-400 million barrels in place. Onshore drilling allows the cost per well to be significantly lower than equivalent depth wells offshore. It is anticipated that between 2-3 wells, targeting the shallower prospects, may be drilled on the licences initially at costs of around US$2-4 million per well, including wells with multiple stacked reservoir targets, with the first well potentially being drilled, subject to satisfactory technical analysis, in the first half of 2019.

Wood Mac: Venezuela’s Oil Output To Fall Below 1 Million Bpd (Oilprice.com)

Venezuela’s crude oil production could fall below 1 million bpd after the United States imposed new sanctions on its already struggling state oil company PDVSA, Wood Mackenzie analyst Ann-Louise Hittle warned.

“We believe production will likely fall to around 900,000 b/d under pressure from sanctions and a lack of materials for workovers, but we expect waivers will ease the full impact of the sanctions until they expire,” Hittle said.

Wood Mackenzie analysts believe the situation will require certain flexibility from local oilfield services providers as foreign companies exit the country. If these can cope with the task to maintain current production, the problem could partly be solved. However, it’s anyone’s guess what the level of expertise at these local companies is, not to mention their financial and equipment resources.

At the moment, Venezuela produces around 1.1 million bpd of crude, which is the lowest in several decades, leading to a slump in exports to a multi-decade low as well. Earlier this month, however, Bloomberg reported a fledgling U.S. company set up last year could help Venezuela turn around its falling oil production. Erepla Services LLC will provide the drilling rigs and crews necessary to increase crude oil production at the Tia Juana, Rosa Mediano, and Ayacucho 5 fields over a period of 25 years. In exchange, the U.S. company will buy all the oil produced at these fields and resell it, giving Venezuela’s PDVSA 50.1 percent of the proceeds and keeping 49.9 percent...

To be fair to 12iq aka Smoggy we are also wondering who has all these 100k blocks to dump - it's been like this for absolutely months and we all think it's helped drag the share price down too.Someone knows somewhere who it is and it surely can't be retail pi's.Annoyed but not overly concerned.

johnleslie, has to be shareholders' biggest bugbear. Possibly initially their news release policy deterred traders, as meant, but all it does now is turn off too many holders and certainly won't ever attract new investors with long bouts of silence.
LK claims CERP are now a proper oil company. In certain respects yes but nowhere near in terms of IR. Maybe we should complain louder!

Point well made Carpadium. At the October Presentation I was chatting to Tony Walker who was asking what the company could improve upon. I mentioned communication and that the quarterly updates were not enough and just facilitated a drop in the share price in the interim. That seems to have fallen on deaf ears. As we know when the news does start to flow the increase in the share price will start from a lower baseline and thus does have a longer term effect.

Six producing fields, lots of different processing methods being trialled/in operation and supposedly a variety of deals under negotiation. You would have thought then that the market could have been treated to a drop of encouraging news to arrest this constant, week after week decline by disillusioned shareholders exiting.

On this score not clever management imo.
