Bought a few of these today.

ISA'able - and on a fwd PE of 10. IQE, ARM, WLF and all the other chip stocks trading on PE's of 25-50, makes CML look very undervalued imo.

These were trading on a PE of 20+ last time chips were in demand.

Doing a research article based on the Top 100 performing shares on AIM in 2010. Can anyone give a quick summary of why this rose so much in 2010 and whether and what there were any early signs of the massive rise in share price. Thanks Moab

CONDOR RESOURCES

robson1975 - 10 Dec'10 - 08:18 - 8010 of 8203

just to remind myself really and for any newbies..

Potential for the stock to reach 30-50p in medium term...

Why ?

Potential for 4 material JORC announcements on 4 separate projects possibly with 4-6 months ?

1. La India (80% owned : 20% owned by $900m Canadian miner B2Gold (TSX:BTO)) awaiting JORC-ification by Dec 31st on 1.84m oz Russian resource. That Russian resource could be worth 20p per share on Edison valuation basis.

2. Rio Luna (plenty of good grades including 450g/tonne)

3. El Rodeo (2km strike length, sampling/drilling programme currently underway)

4. El Salvador 1m oz Gold and Gold equivalent (i.e.silver) resource equivalent to one third of Arian Silvers silver resource - currently being discounted as El Sal have a moratorium on mining but a simple decision by the Govt could see 1m oz of potential value to CNR (i.e. 10-15p on Edison value basis?)

Hello-I am a bull of Pure Wafer(PUR) and as such was researching all companies connected to the semi conductor industry.Just wish I had been with CML over the past two years!!
PUR shares seem about to benefit from the huge upswing across the industry and as such I would welcome any observations from posters here, should you have interesting input for what is a particularly quiet thread!!
Cheers
Mud.

Very strange trade today. A mere 3,000 uncrossed in an auction which usually only happens where shares get traded on the order book. Uncrossing price of 179p which is a full 5p above the offer price. Very mysterious. Does this suggest a shortage of stock and upward pressure in price or a total red herring?

Yep Y, long experience of value investing has taught me to exercise patience and give these types of shares a couple of years from the date of low price so hold until Jan 2012.

Interesting post Rainmaker. Is there a quick way to find companies that are trading at or less than net working capital ?

Hi All,Sorry to go o/t on this thread but I will looking to run positions in CML for a further year. Experience has taught that it definitely pays to give these types of situations time for the share price to work it's magic. So I like to employ a hands off approach. CML is moving up from such a poor rating that even if it moves to an average rating it will go a lot higher. I would use the price/sales ratio. Let me check.

Hi again Y-Essentially I'm buying shares in Companies that are trading at or less than net working capital-ie current or liquid assets less all liabilities.Currently Northamber(NAR) and Mallett(MAE) are good examples.I think I remember you posting on either Acal(ACL) or Trifast(TRI)at around 100p and 10p respectively a couple of years ago?Are you a fellow shareholder in either?Acal is up 150% and Trifast 400%. Both are good examples of Value shares that I hold. re Jim Slater I've got his books and I think the PEG is a useful tool not just to find out if a share is undervalued but obtain a price if it were to be fairly valued but IMHO Ben Graham-Warren Buffett's mentor is by far the most important and justifably influential stock market author bar none.

Thanks Rainmaker.

Seems to be very Jim Slaterish and his Zulu stocks but without the forecast element.

Have you ever looked at Chemring?

Thanks Y-Tricky to define value investing as it's more art than science but here goes "off the cuff"-

"Value Investing is an investment rather than a speculation in a historically lowly priced and poorly rated Company that upon thorough and comprehensive investigation and analysis of it's trading history, business, markets and competitors reveals an substantial undervaluation on the basis of known facts and definite prospects rather than forecasts upon it's future earnings that cannot be relied upon to any degree.Such a share will promise safety of capital and a good return for an Investor prepared to exercise patience.Furthmore there will exist a substantial margin of safety at the purchase price and the Company higher intrinsic value likely providing a floor under the current share price and protecting the Investor against adverse unforeseen future events. Risk is further reduced by diversification through the purchase of similiar shares in a balanced portfolio."

Rainmaker,

I'm not sure that value investing is "the safest and surest way to make money.". No investing in shares deserves that award.

What do you understand as value investing as I think its hard to define and probably has as many descriptions as there are investors.

Hi Wil, No I was just commenting generally on how in my experience, "Value" shares seemingly go from one extreme to the other extreme- ie greatly undervalued, to undervalued, to fairly valued then overvalued and maybe even very overvalued, in a short time period.

Wil, value investing is a lonely business.Aside from wanting to help People, why do you think I post on ADVFN? Most People aren't Value Investors but it's the safest and surest way to make money. It delivers higher returns with less risk than other strategies but you need to be psychcologically well equipped to buy when everybody when everyone is selling or ignoring a share then you need to be prepared to exercise great patience.

Yes,Bones as many as I could lay my hands on. I remember buying this share around 80p in 99 with a 12% historic dividend yield with a p/e 5/7, trading at net working capital as it was wrongly perceived a no growth stock story. It then promptly 10 bagged over the next year.I perceive this Company as highly cyclical so during recessions you can buy the shares very cheaply. It also predicts and lags the economic cycle and is not as responsive to the changing economic outlook-note that it was making it's lows in Jan this year, a whole year after most stocks. I have been following this Company fairly closely for the last 3/4 years but didn't start buying until this year and once I saw Directors buying shares and a positive trading update I knew it was the time to buy even more.

Rainmaker = I dont regard these shares as overvalued at all (post 138). The property portflio is worth several million on it's own and the business is likely to restart dividends next year. I predict £2.40 next June/July after the full year figures to yr end Mar 11. Bones = thank you for your updates over the last few months your faith in the company will/is being rewarded,it must have felt a bit lonely on this board at times! Regards Wil
