30/1/2002 09:43 | Do wer think the 100k m trades are sells or buys? | graceyfields
30/1/2002 09:43 | Wrangler..... My post 1590 - I am referring the statement issued yesterday where CAB management expect to be debt free by the end of the year providing their sales & restructuring plans are completed. I did also ask whether there was non-UK debt that would still exist afterwards - this hasnt been answered. My post 1600 - If you read the last CAB interims they state that post year end there was a £2.45m surplus on the winding up of a pension scheme. To my eyes that was not reflected in the interims and would fall into the period ended 31st Jan. Hope there is no inferrence that I am ramping old chap?!! | nav_mike
30/1/2002 09:22 | ravenna - what happened to your post - its a shadow of its former self. You and timbo both expressing obviously contrarian opinions to the mainstream but could well be valid. timbo - I agree your NAV calc as at interim 2001. NAV_Mike your post 1590 - how do you work out debt free? your post 1600 - where is pension surplus? PG would not have gone in on other than a good deal IMHO! | wrangler501

30/1/2002 00:12 | NAV_Mike Whether ADVFN calls it a buy or a sell depends on whether it is closer to the offer or the bid at the time that the trade was reported. The ADVFN software is just guessing and often gets it wrong, particularly in a fast changing market or when delayed trades are reported. If it were a bit more clever it should really report M trades in the ? column. | holdcroft
29/1/2002 23:16 | Well for the record I sold my remaining 40K shares @ 5.5p last Thursday, so that gives me a modest profit of around 20% on my total investment in this company. I don't think this a particulary good deal for most shareholders (for all the various reasons stated above), but it sounds like a very good deal for Gyllenhammer and his bank. Earlier in the thread someone summarised the tip sheet article that started the recent buying frenzy, it looked like garbage to me. As I have stated on a couple of occassions on this thread, at the last set of results (Nov 2001) the stated NAV was around £10M, this equates to around 12.5p/share (NOT 17p per share), the refinancing deal will certainly cap any increase in the NAV due to revaluation of assets which may occur as a result of planning permission approvals for some of the freehold property. I am now beginning to understand why Britannic and other institutions didn't like the smell of this one, all things considered I think CAB are more or less fairly priced at the moment if you assume an optimistic scenario. They are certainly not grossly under priced. I have no intention of buying back in at these levels. | timbo003
29/1/2002 22:26 | Read the news people | zilla1
29/1/2002 22:21 | Gracey My thoughts too. The newspaper article in mid January stated Carbo had a NAV of 17p if I'm not mistaken and thats with x millions of debt. If things go according to plan all debt repaid by year end. What will that make NAV? Carbo may become a tasty takeover target and with no debt I would like to think a premium on top of the revised NAV wouldnt be asking too much! | daddy warbucks
29/1/2002 17:28 | Bloakey & DW - Closing (& opening) auction only applies to SETS traded shares, e.g. MONI. | matto
29/1/2002 17:02 | Can anyone answer the questions raised in posts 1645 & 1647. CAB held up really well today (Pratline has gone quiet). I don't expect any more surges for a while (up or down) but will very happily accept the occasional 0.5p tick up. As ever be lucky (and you gracey) Jim | justjim37
29/1/2002 16:43 | Bloakey Thanks for that. The price has held up relatively well in pretty thin trading for a share which has just come back from suspension. Are we all waiting for the action to begin again? | daddy warbucks
29/1/2002 16:33 | Dontknowitall, No I could of set a limit with my broker for the expected drop, but the price is back to where it was before it suddenly took off on friday. FEVS | fevs
29/1/2002 16:30 | Aren't you only staying put because you were asleep at the beginning of this drop? :) and lots of tongue in cheek :) | dontknowitall
29/1/2002 16:30 | Daddy Warbucks - 29 Jan'02 - 15:01 - 1654 of 1655 At the end and start of each days trading late/early trades etc. bid for shares, this can sometimes generate surprises. I saw Moni shoot up four p in one auction!!! Well all is said and done, carbo is doing well (at least it came back unlike Just), around it I can see a sea of Red, TWT, EGS, DDI,MONI etc. all massively down and Carbo is peacefully languishing in the middle. | bloakey
29/1/2002 16:23 | Just got up and caught up on all the news. A lot of people bailing out, but these are the short termers getting out as there is no take over. I for one will be staying put to see what happens over the coming months. Lets hope we will see the continued rise that there has been in the last few weeks. Best of luck to all who stay put. 29/1/2002 15:01 | Bloakey 14:32 - 1652 of 1653 I think that things will be interesting at close of play and in the evening auction. Forgive my ignorance, (still wet behind the ears), but what is the 'evening auction' | daddy warbucks
29/1/2002 14:43 | I DO NOT LIKE THIS Part of the refinance deal As part of the refinancing deal, the backers will share in the proceeds from the sale of assets, including Chesterfield. | saturn5
29/1/2002 14:33 | What a rollercoaster few days.....!! Friday - VET bomb 45% then CAB jump 30% Tuesday - CAB relist down 30% but VETs jump 42%! who said shares were dull? Oh yeah...buyers returning to CAB - well done to all those still in | nav_mike
29/1/2002 14:32 | I think that things will be interesting at close of play and in the evening auction. | bloakey
29/1/2002 13:18 | Cheers Jim - Its exactly that! Glad its not just me that puzzles over that one. Its also relevant seeing as how much importance is placed on large M trades I think the weak holders of CAB have been flushed out now - lets see where this one is by the end of the week..... PS Gracey you are SO quiet....are you out there or has the shock of Jim agreeing with you done your head in for good ??? :-) | nav_mike
29/1/2002 13:10 | HOLDCROFT, I accept what you say about ADVN and pricing but that is not NAV_Mike's point. I believe what he is saying is this: One MM sells say 100,000 shares at the mid or sell price and it is reported by ADVN as a sell or a ?. Obviously (I think) another MM has bought the 100,000 shares. So why is only one trade shown and not two?? I've often puzzled over this. It also happens with X trades. Jim ps CAB still holding it's own | justjim37
29/1/2002 13:05 | Im very pleasantly surprised as to how well this has stayed up but on the other hand I should have expected it ,cab is worth a lot more and now people are beginning to realise this . good luck mms98 | mms98
