Best response to a profit warning I have seen! Margins below expectations and progress "towards" better margins in 2008. Profit forecast probably overstated. I have increased short position and will look to average up if the price continues to rise as it looks clear that targets won't be met. Build up of inventory also suggests increase in debt or possible further equity raising. It also sounds like a lot of the early sale success was due to very low prices rather than the quality of the product.

"For an increasing number of key components, we are starting to build some working inventory and have improved visibility on availability of key components to meet the firm orders we have received. Forecast production in the first half of 2007 will continue to be 'lumpy' and increased production is forecasted as we move through the remaining quarters of the year. We expect narrowed margins during start-up due to initial production and procurement inefficiencies and legacy pricing in initial sales. Substantial progress towards normalised margins is expected as we move into 2008 due to more favorable product pricing and moderating component costs."

Bit of a rise towards results, partly due I suspect to the news of EDP's bid for Horizon.

Yes, certainly a buying opportunity; look at the recent buyers- some really savvy investors there.

Better to move to a lower cost manufacture and assembly factory elsewhere.

Is the source of feed materials abundant?

Main increase (for this and Vesta - VWS) was a government commitment to more renewable energy.

Read the small print... "The remaining 41 units, or 102.5 MW, are contingent subject to the availability of Clipper wind turbines committed to others via contract options."

Doesn't that suggest they are constrained by production capacity? Not much point winning orders if you can't make them, as the broker note seemed to be pointing out some months ago.

How realistic are their production capacity forecasts? They were way off the mark last year. I can see the production management being under a lot of pressure to be optimistic.

UK Wind Turbine Manufacturer Attracts Major Investment
Global market leader in small-scale turbines gain finance in move to expand production

Proven Energy, a market leader in small-scale, high performance wind turbines has received an investment of £4.5 million from Low Carbon Accelerator Limited. The investment is coupled with Proven's expansion plans to meet growing global demand.

In response to rapidly growing British and international markets, Proven Energy will increase manufacturing capacity in order to meet the volume of demand. The company will also focus on Research & Development of further innovative power generators. The company is also developing an onshore initiative, Windcrofting, creating energy from mini-windfarms across the country.

Proven is an established, successful wind turbine manufacturing company whose clients include Shell, for whom Proven provides marine-grade, explosion proof wind-turbines to power offshore gas platforms in the North Sea, Sainsbury's, B&Q, and T-Mobile, as well as turbines for environmental domestic developments.

hi everyone
be aware if you ever decide to terminate advfn subscription (my story)

i rang them few days ago to cancell it/they said send a e-mail/well i sent an e-mail, they reply to the e-mail saying write a letter/ ok i wrote a letter/ according to them they did not received my letter, telling me i should have recorded it/ the person on the advfn phone was very rude and had no respect for the subscriber at all besides he did not give me his full name, 6 times i rang and he simply put the phone down on me/ all i asked them to do is cancell the subcription/ for few dollars more/they lost a potential subscriber & a advfn shareholder for good/ what a administration who does not care a bit about the inconvenient they are putting through their loyal customer.

The trouble is its short term liabilities are covered 14 times, Its got US$ 130 million in assets and it makes wind turbines (correction manages wind farm projects19/2/2007). Which the UN and governments around the world are subsidising and providing EUA's and CER's (carbon credits) for.

Think there are more over heated companies than this about IMHO.

There hasn't been as RNS about the 2.8m placed a couple of weeks ago at 582p/585p. That would represent 2% of the company, so it's possible an RNS wasn't required.

I notice that there are delayed trades today for 2.5m and 3m @ 570p. More major holders deciding to reduce stakes ahead of results?

FWIW I've twice taken a loss trying to short CWP. Third time lucky, perhaps.

Opened a new short first thing this morning. Large director selling is not good news. Typo56, is this the sale you heard rumours of?

Non-exec sales in October and November last year (same director) and now Chairman sales in January.

So they actually "completed" 8 turbines in 2006, not the 155 originally indicated, and they have yet to be installed.

No mention of the problem with the gearbox housings.

Oh dear, I think perhaps I should go long now then - Hedge is a fantastic contrary indicator - he's been calling SOLA a short from 150p lol.
