02/11/2006 19:48 | Yeah i seem to remember those numbers as well - around 1 million per 1MW turbine | stegrego
02/11/2006 16:33 | CR, LOL! Such information is highly confidential. Different buyers will have different discounts. I am not an investor in Clipper, but am an interested potential shorter. Broker note indicates 2007 pricing is around $1.1m per MW which is expected to give a 20% gross margin. | scburbs
02/11/2006 15:53 | What's the cost of not investing in renewable sources? | gbb483
02/11/2006 15:19 | Sorry, I'll repeat again - can anyone tell me what these turbines sell for? You've all invested in it so I assume you know that basic detail, or a rough estimate. CR | cockneyrebel
31/10/2006 11:05 | I don't like the technology partly due to the high cost on the environment in their production process Please can you provide a reputable source for these high environmental costs? | lpf

22/10/2006 13:03 | Clipper Windpower Aims To Lower The Cost Of Wind Power By Rue Swabey US-based Clipper was established in 2001 by James Dehslen, a wind energy pioneer and the founder of Zond Corporation, a wind power developer. Zond was sold to Enron Corporation in 1997 and was subsequently acquired by General Electric. Today GE's 1.5MW wind turbine, which was originally developed by Zond, is the market leader in the US. When Mr Dehslen formed Clipper his objective was to develop a turbine that substantially increases the efficiency of wind-generated electricity providing a large increase in the potential geographic area for turbine deployment. In order to achieve this Mr Dehslen brought the original Zond team back together and they have made significant progress. Clipper's Liberty 2.5 MW turbine has undergone prototype testing, been certified and production is now underway. .. more ... | wassapper
19/10/2006 08:07 | With good contract newsflow there is a danger of Clipper breaking out of its trading range on the upside. I have closed at a 24pp loss. I still think this is an excellent show waiting to happen, but as highlighted by gbb483 my initial timing may have been a bit premature. | scburbs
12/10/2006 12:58 | gbb483, Agreed it looks like my timing was a bit premature. My short position is a hedge against my predominantly long positions which are doing very nicely, so not too bothered by today's rise. I will re-evaluate over the next few days. | scburbs
12/10/2006 11:28 | Looking at the response to today's annoucement you could be a little premature. | gbb483
11/10/2006 17:10 | Hi LPF, My position is a spreadbet. I think a number of spreadbet companies offer positions long and short in CWP, e.g Finspreads, IG Index etc. | scburbs
11/10/2006 13:36 | scburbs - 9 Oct'06 - 16:19 - 165 of 166 Opened a small short on CWP this morning. Market cap is assuming an awful lot even if potential is strong. Good for you on making your call public. Out of interest, are there many brokers willing to open shorts on AIM stocks such as this? (Capital Spreads don't seem to offer it) | lpf
09/10/2006 21:44 | Thats nice for you then - | stegrego
09/10/2006 16:19 | Opened a small short on CWP this morning. Market cap is assuming an awful lot even if potential is strong. Not a big TA investor myself, but the cliff looks very steep for those who don't lock in profits, if it starts to fall it could move down very quickly. | scburbs
28/9/2006 20:05 | Wow that was quick - thought it would take weeks to sort out - 480p - not too bad then Further to this morning's announcement, Clipper is pleased to confirm that, following the successful completion of the bookbuild process, 9,504,852 new shares of 10 pence each in Clipper (the "New Shares") have been placed by Lehman Brothers at a price of 480 pence per share raising gross proceeds of #45.6 million. The New Shares being issued represent just under 10 per cent. of Clipper's ordinary share capital immediately prior to the Placing. | stegrego
27/9/2006 11:45 | Clipper Windpower: Gets of to a flying start. By William Foss. Clipper Windpower had an exceptional first year on AIM, clocking in a near 300% gain in that short time span - is the honeymoon going to end soon? The alternative energy sector, perhaps surprisingly, has found its home in London. London offers an attractive mix of lighter regulation, deep institutional pockets and an appetite for green energy companies. Colin Moynihan, Executive Chairman of Clipper, also points out that western Europe on the whole has a more mature alternative energy sector and as a result, many of the top analysts for the sector reside here. These are the primary reasons that Clipper Windpower, which is essentially a US company concentrating for the moment on US sales, is listed in London. The decision has paid off. Clipper is now capitalised at nearly £½ billion and has seen some big institutions appear on the shareholders register recently. | cimbom
18/8/2006 20:53 | CWP The launch of the Guinness Atkinson Alternative Energy Fund testifies to optimism about the sub-sector echoed by the launch of the first renewable energy hedge fund by Ardsley Partners. ... Guinness Atkinson reduces risk by diversifying it across a portfolio of 40 to 60 US and international holdings. This international exposure differentiates it from its benchmark, as ECO is comprised of US companies. The top five holdings of the fund are Germany-based wind turbine producer Nordex (NRDXF.PK), Australian Ethanol (ASTUF.PK), and UK-based Clipper Windpower (CWP.L), ethanol producer Renova Energy (RVA.L), and fuel cell company Ceres Power Holdings (CWR.L). | stegrego
15/8/2006 23:11 | BP announced today that it has purchased Greenlight Energy, Inc., a US-based developer of wind power generation projects. The purchase will allow BP to accelerate its plans to develop a leading wind power business in North America. | stegrego

14/8/2006 07:33 | Taken together with the BP deal, "The transactions represent 370 MW (megawatts) of firm orders for Clipper turbines; clear visibility on a further 160 MW to be deployed into near-term Clipper development projects, and 2165 MW of early stage projects," Dehlsen reported to shareholders at the EGM. On Tuesday, subsequent to shareholders' passing of the resolutions management presented at the EGM, Clipper announced that it had completed the turbine supply and joint development agreements with BP Alternative Energy. These total some $4 billion worth of U.S. and international turbine sales and services agreements, partnering to jointly develop five wind power development projects in New York, South Dakota and Texas, and contingent agreements to do similarly elsewhere in the U.S., as well as in Europe. The agreement has a five-year time frame. There is apparently more in Clipper's turbine sales and project development pipeline. Dehlsen added, "There is the potential for up to 2030MW of Clipper turbine sales over the next five years into other projects developed by these parties. These three contracts are the first of a series of sales and development transactions that are expected to be signed over the coming twelve months." ../.. In addition to attracting interest from major league investment banks and fund managers, Clipper's recent commercial successes are also attracting the interest of other wind power market participants. "We are in active negotiations with international energy companies and utilities both for portfolio agreements covering a group of Clipper development projects linked to Liberty turbine supply, as well as sales of Clipper turbines to other third parties," management stated. They added that "increasing numbers' of electric utility executives and institutional shareholders have been visiting Clipper's Cedar Rapids, Iowa assembly plant, which management believes will lead to future deals in the U.S., Europe and other international markets. Conclusion Looking ahead, Clipper is working on plans to develop a larger, offshore version of the Liberty turbine for offer in the European market; one which management expects will show significant development in 2008-2009. "Advanced engineering studies for the next generation of wind turbines, for both land based and offshore applications, indicate a significant advantage of the Clipper D-GENQ [Quantum Distributed Generation Drivetrain] power-train architecture in scaling up to the 5.0 to 10MW size range," Dehlsen noted. "Products within this size range are currently being defined, and the product development budget for 2007-2008 is under review and it is expected to be moderately increased." | andrbea
