15/8/2008 08:29 | Might Octupus not have held just under 3% and recently bought some to give them a declarable stake? | argy2
14/8/2008 14:55 | And, correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to recall that David Newon has some involvment with Octopus. | mesquida
14/8/2008 13:36 | Octopus have a VCT, perhaps they are connected in some way. | tyranosaurus
14/8/2008 12:50 | So who sold? Only a few holders would have had sufficient to cover the 4% Octopus bought. Mores the point, the 1,593,762 4.09% stake matches the Close Bros. AIM VCT holdings. And if it is them, why did they sell out at these prices having held for a number of years. Holdings in the company before this last RNS: William Ward 7,589,936 19% Sir Robin Knox Johnson 2,749,941 7% Fast Track Sales Ltd 1,562,500 4% Close Bros. AIM VCT 1,593,762 4% Rowan Dartington & Co 1,987,500 5% David Newton 1,500,000 4% Chelverton Asset Management 1,123,295 3% Hodkinson Bennis 1,130,000 3% Wills & Co 2,154,700 6% And now plus Octopus Investments 1,593,762 4% | jojaken
14/8/2008 08:27 | Octopus Investments Limited announce they hold 4.09%. | deswalker
13/8/2008 21:35 | I got a reply to my email: Finance Director away at moment. Aiming for end August/start September for results. | tyranosaurus
11/8/2008 16:07 | They never replied to my email. Looks like 2 sells of 100k today. Perhaps somebody got fed up of no news. | tyranosaurus
11/8/2008 15:09 | anyone any ideas on when the results are coming out? I thought they were due out by now? | pat dunk
06/8/2008 10:09 | Internet position now looks very tight - this is all set to run! | mesquida
05/8/2008 18:32 | I`m still waiting to hear from them. Nice 100k buy at 9.5p today. | tyranosaurus
05/8/2008 17:26 | tyranosaurus, Did the company get back to you with a results date ? Des | deswalker
01/8/2008 13:28 | Now it makes more sense. Delayed trade 340k at 7.625p at same time as 440k trade at 7.25p. But delayed trade of 440k. | tyranosaurus
01/8/2008 13:21 | jojaken Thanks for that. | argy2
01/8/2008 13:01 | >ARGY2 A company can purchase its own shares during a closed period as long as said buy-backs are managed independently of the company. Ie A broker is employed with a mandate to purchase x number of shares at the best price over a certain period. The broker should make trading decisions in relation to the company's securities independently of, and uninfluenced by, the company. (ie. Management will not necessarily know when the purchases are to be made prior to any purchases.) | jojaken
01/8/2008 12:25 | Are there any limits to buybacks during the close period?...would seem odd if there wasn't. I was expecting them to go into the market after the figs. They were happy to pay 19p for 200k last year so might be tempted to use some of their rising cash position to get the shares back to a realistic level. | argy2
01/8/2008 11:57 | >Tyranosaurus I would be surprised if the 440K wasn't a buy rather than a sell. Personally I didn't think there was much of an overhang though as I tried several times a few weeks back to buy in volume only to be told that on each occasion the MMs would only offer a decent price inside the spread in volumes of either 25k or 50k. So at that time they didn't have anyone they could look to for volume. Still 440K is little over 1%. Would be nice if was a stock buyback IMO. | jojaken
01/8/2008 11:07 | 2 buys of 50k at full asking price. I`ve emailed the company to ask when the results are coming out. Will post if/when I get a reply. | tyranosaurus
01/8/2008 10:36 | Looks interesting. That line of stock looks like a cross which might suggest a line of stock overhanging the market has now gone. If so, then half decent figures, a confirmation that the cash position has improved further and an increased divi will all help return the shares to a much higher level. Especially if like last year the Company buy back a chunk of shares from the market. We shall see. | argy2
01/8/2008 10:21 | What the f is going on. Sell of 440k at 7.25p and the price is marked up. | tyranosaurus
01/8/2008 08:45 | Results should be due soon (last year 30th July). Will they release them in time to avoid the ignominity of 5 whole months without 1 single RNS. Terrible investor relations. | scburbs
16/7/2008 13:45 | What is the total crew needed for this race ? 200 may sound better compared to the total required. | tyranosaurus
15/7/2008 19:16 | This link is worth a look ... A busy schedule is planned for this summer but what really caught my eye was ... Training for Clipper 09-10 is well and truly underway and more than 200 crew have already completed Part A of their compulsory Clipper Training which looks like a good position to be in with the race still 14 months away. | deswalker
06/7/2008 11:43 | Hope it is just a distressed seller as I bought 10k on Friday. | tyranosaurus
04/7/2008 08:36 | Just bought another 30k. Emailed FD yesterday and he didn't know of any reason for the fall. Looks like a distressed seller and a buying op to me. The accounts are difficult to understand but that can work in ones favour. Ignore the P&L, it's too dependent on the race cycle. Balance Sheet & net-cash position at each year-end plus the dividend yield are the only ways to value this IMO. Simply look out for the increase in TBV and the cash conversion each period and then assume that quite a lot of this will be thrown out as divis as seems to be management's intention. I've watched the race the whole way. Expected a drop in share price when the masts failed when they were in the Pacific but nothing. Now they're spitting distance from the end the share price tanks. The FD used the phrase "illogical" and that was my view too. Maybe people are worried about crew uptake, but from what I can gather from info in the public domain things are going okay and there's a lot of time between now and the next race. A unique global event with a global consumer base. There'll be enough people in the world rich enough for an experience like this IMO. Maybe there'll all come from China but so what :) | deswalker |
