23/1/2008 18:31 | One sale and the price sinks by 8.6%. They should bring out an RNS to reassure shareholders saying "no reason for continuing share price decline, race going well etc" That is if that is the case. | tyranosaurus
16/1/2008 22:00 | Let's hope for some profits to go with the awards. "Clipper Ventures Chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston CBE, today cemented his reputation as one of the most iconic sailors in history when he was awarded the Raymarine / YJA Yachtsman of the Year Award 2008. Following his inspiring exploits in last year's VELUX 5 OCEANS, a single-handed around the world race, he made history yet again as he claimed the title of UK Yachtsman of the Year for an unprecedented third time." | scburbs
16/1/2008 15:42 | A few more (35k at 14.24p) for me today ahead of the results. With the final results indicating significant increases in Clipper sponsorship income for the 07/08 race, hopefully this should translate into solid eps growth, although I think most of the profit will fall into H2. Last year was 2.8p after a terrible H1 (most of the 2.8p was in H2 alone). If this year is going to show good growth on this then we should rapidly move up into the 25-30p range or c.100% up from the current price. | scburbs
13/1/2008 14:58 | I bought 60,000 cheap on Friday - am looking for interim results this week together with first interim dividend. Clearly market does not want to know at the moment but on a long term view I am confident that I will double my money. | mesquida
11/1/2008 20:11 | Whisky sponsor signed up for 2009/2010 race | scotoilies
23/12/2007 21:33 | New website for Clipper Training Courses launched - hopefully more income for 2008. | scotoilies
29/11/2007 20:12 | I mean the share price has been going down ever since the race started. | tyranosaurus
28/11/2007 23:38 | What do you mean the race isn't going well??!! | joan of arc
28/11/2007 17:41 | The header should be changed to "Clipper Ventures - about to sink" The share price graph suggests that the race is not going well. | tyranosaurus
26/11/2007 18:10 | One day ADVFN will wake up to the fact that the dividend has already been paid and take that annoying XD off the monitor. | tyranosaurus
25/11/2007 19:17 | advertising for two years away is exactly what this company is about. it has so much of its earnings in the bag, way ahead of the year it is trading that its forecasts have to be one of the safest, when judging a stock's forward p/e. yet clipper has a forward p/e of 4 or less! Not forgetting the dividend it pays out too. one day someone will wake up to how cheap this stock is! | pat dunk
24/11/2007 20:16 | Full page advert in today's Telegraph magazine for crew for 09/10 race. | deswalker
20/11/2007 14:18 | 65000 bought today, mm making a turn on the 14p sell! | pat dunk
14/11/2007 20:55 | Noted the 50000 sell at 14p today. Someone doesn`t share your view. Hope they are not a large investor starting to dump shares. These should be trading higher. | tyranosaurus
14/11/2007 08:29 | Des, an excellent idea that you should definitely put forward to them. I have always found their investor relations very good if you pick up the phone. I ask to speak to William Ward and he is very happy to talk to investors. I spoke to him recently and he confirmed that everything was on track for the year end forecast and that the race was going very well with lots of positive feedback, which only confirms to me that the price should be significantly higher than this. I am a frustrated long term holder too but I do believe that the stock will move from here, if not sooner, then certainly when they announce their year end figures to the end of April, which as I said before I am sure are in the bag already. | pat dunk
14/11/2007 00:45 | I don't hold but continue to watch. When I did hold CLV I sent several emails to the supposed investor relations contact. Never one reply! The only joy I got was by phoning. I wondered if anyone currently holding has found this attitude to have changed? I reckon that companies that treat shareholders so badly, often have little interest, grasp or ability to raise the shareprice. It was one reason why I sold because I found that the lack of replies and falling share prices went hand in hand. Dibbs | dibbs
13/11/2007 20:27 | I like it Des. Yes do suggest it to them - forcefully! I too am a frustrated long term holder. By the way why propose it as a replacement for the cities. They should invent another race along your lines. | joan of arc
13/11/2007 16:00 | Pat, Just general apathy I guess. But having followed the race every day so far, seen the advertising appearing on the website and the product offering in general I plan on holding my 50k shares until its true potential is realized. The company has got to be worth far more than the current market cap. Two things I would love to see them do ... 1) Increased marketing and crew recruitment elsewhere (especially North America where the mega bucks are). 2) Consider alternative sponsors besides cities. I'm thinking of the global mega-caps such as the big Wall Street firms (okay not such a great time right now but for 09/10 race things ought to be back to normal IMO). Just imagine, Merrills v Goldmans v MS v JP Morgan v .... Loads of sabbaticals for loaded employees, start and finish line on the Hudson River and a massive following on The Street. I think I'll drop them a line and see if they're thinking along those lines to maximise sponsorship revenue. Absolutely no reason to restrict themselves to names such as Liverpool and Hull going forward IMO. But having the boats, expertise and contacts offers huge possibilities to tap into an increasingly wealthy middle class looking for thrills before they die. That's my angle anyway ... 13/11/2007 15:02 | Add to that, they already have the 5 oceans signed up for 2010!! their sales must be some of the most transparent around? | pat dunk
13/11/2007 15:00 | anyone got any reasons why this is so cheap? The forecast for this year's profit, that must be in the bag due to the forward contracts they have, is £1.5 mil, which puts this on a foreward P/e of 4!?? The race is going well and is being well received and yet the price continues to fall?? | pat dunk
16/10/2007 13:03 | First leg just about finished. Hopefully a big reception in Salvador. Durban the winners barring a disaster. SP ticking down. More buybacks please. | deswalker
09/10/2007 18:08 | 150000 sold today at 17.5p. | tyranosaurus
06/10/2007 09:15 | Nice to see a well known City figure coming aboard. No shareholding was disclosed upon appointment, which was a little surprising as you would have thought that he might have had a shareholding given his previous role at Corporate Synergy, but maybe we will not have to wait too long before he buys in the market. Whatever, today´s appointment is another sign that the City is beginning to take this Company seriously. The current valuation is a nonsense! | mesquida
03/10/2007 19:18 | I have been a shareholder since the beginning. I have some shares under the EIS scheme which cost 40p each. Profits will not be taxable - I`m still waiting for a profit !!! | tyranosaurus |
