10/8/2008 23:02 | Sounds like a good time to be able to find oil outside the Kazakh region..IMHO.. Those wells in Kentucky, that were abandoned all those years ago, could well achieve 10boe/day with newer recovery techniques (steam/chemical release). It depends on whether they can use some of the revenue to buy in the expertise, and what the profitability is. Food for thought though. Pity we can't buy a plot of land in the Bakken fields... 08/8/2008 14:51 | Escalation of hostilities in the region could adversely effect all Caspian oil producers. Beware. | martin036

30/7/2008 12:30 | Didn't say it was big Stef. - just unusual. | 1775
30/7/2008 10:38 | Online gives the better clues to long or short positions. 2.25p bid monitor but 2.55p bid online for 175k, the most selftrade will offer is just 2.5k at 2.93p or £74 ish worth. | 8trader
30/7/2008 10:28 | thats 2.5k quids worth ! hardly big | stefield
30/7/2008 10:19 | On level 2 Wins. are bidding for 100000 - very unusual. 25000 is the norm. they are either well short or have a buyer in the wings. | 1775
30/7/2008 03:32 | If it works for the CSH holders then so be it. I wouldn't trust Masterman as far as I could throw him though. Bit like skiboy10 and his rampaging rampant threads. He thinks I am living in Burnley , you know. Quite bizarre. | trenton8780
30/7/2008 02:11 | there is a huge amount of oil in kaz, but has little relevance in the 1.5km2 that caspian hav. its a bit like saying there is a lot of oil in north sea, then drilling a hole in your paddling pool in the back garden ! they dont have any mony, and they aren t making any ! | stefield
29/7/2008 15:25 | Scrawler I agree that there is a great opportunity here to average down a lot for those of us who bought in at the higher prices, I stupidly still think this has some potential. Here in Mallorca the president of Kaskhstan is holidaying on the yacht of the richest man in the UK. He is controversial at present as he is accused of transfering $1 billion of oil revenue into his private bank accounts. On the positive side for us is that there must be a lot oil coming out of the ground in the region for him to get that amount of money out of the system. Good luck to all. Sanroc 32 | sanroc32
29/7/2008 13:43 | finally some trades going through what is best about it is that they're mostly buys. i did well to averaged it down i'll be breaking even soon and also make a decent profit. caspian 2 months ago had been so much rightly undervalued but now there's a different story now they are wrongly undervalued. there's not much liquidity as most shares are owned by management and it could easily double and more. if any of you still holds shares from 28p and 30p average it down would be best as it could take years for you to break even at least. good nluck to all. | scrawler
29/7/2008 13:33 | A post on RXP relevant to your oil price deliberations: tonester30ccfc - 29 Jul'08 - 11:49 - 3733 of 3743 edit u813061 - 29 Jul'08 - 11:07 - 3723 of 3731 Currently selling oil at $ 37 a barrel, which could be below the cost of production. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 'Could be'? And how do arrive at that earth shattering conclusion??? There is no process involved with the oil extracted. It is delivered in a pre-treatment state. Furthermore, this obligation stands for as long as the company are in test production awaiting full production license for the field after which they have greater freedom to operate. Whether the company then sells domestically or via export remains to be seen. MXP achieved an average of $59.72/bbl domestically during their 2007 financial year against a Russian Urals blend average price for the year of $68.45/bbl Since then oil prices have moved by an average of in excess of $40/bbl and for the 7 months of this year that average now sits at $109.84. MXP's cost of sales by comparison were $28.92/bbl and this includes substantial treatment for oil processing and for a field that is watering out. I'd expect RXP's production cost figures to be close on half of MXP's production costs. "The oil is being trucked to a pretreatment facility and sold to the domestic market as required by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) at a price of approximately US$37 per barrel." | tonester30ccfc
29/7/2008 13:29 | 1775, It would be at least $2m/annum I would expect. At 120bopd this would work out at around $50/barrel. Would need to look at published accounts to get a more accurate figure. | relishing
29/7/2008 13:26 | Even better limits now, sell 175k above mid (2.55p), buy just 2.5k at 2.7p. | 8trader
29/7/2008 13:24 | Would that be another $20 a barrel? I haven't included any return on their new licences in the states - small as they may be they will still add to the bottom line and have considerable potential.Relative to most of the other small oilers on aim that could be 2-3 yrs. from production and yet are capitalised at up to 20x that of Caspian I think they are a good bet. | 1775
29/7/2008 13:06 | 3million profit ? what about all the admin costs ? any money left will be needed for more workovers to keep current production. how will they fund any new drilling ? | stefield
29/7/2008 13:06 | There may be $100 net contribution per barrel (after production costs), but you've then got to take off general & admin costs. | relishing
29/7/2008 12:41 | Your right relishing ! I'm in the Eurozone - forgot about the currency exchange.I still think there's $100 profit per barrel so the figs.still add up. | 1775
29/7/2008 12:29 | Don't you mean $70 profit rather than £70? Unlikely to be making $140 profit per barrel. | relishing
29/7/2008 11:55 | There's so few shares in issue and with the directors and instis.holding 60% - 70% it would take very little to push these up.Current mkt.cap. £2.75m - projected annual profit for the coming year min.£3m - it's a no brainer!! | 1775
29/7/2008 11:19 | Bit of a squeeze here, 175k v 15k online. | 8trader
29/7/2008 11:07 | I know shareholders have been let down badly over the last few years but I think this could change very quickly now.lets do the sums! 120 BOD x £70 profit per barrel x 350 days per annum = c.£3m PROFIT annually!!! I believe this one could easily treble over the short term. | 1775
29/7/2008 08:26 | "There is no doubt that the company has gone through a difficult year". ....it, was "Shortfalls in the then local Kazak Management Administration compliance performance". "With Black Gold and Pine Meadows in the US and Zhengeldy in Kazakhstan we can potentially have three fields in production in three months." LOLOLOL!!! Don't you just love Mastermanspeak?
