475p potential 7% yield...fully understand why they would be snapped up.

BO has been straight with shareholders and very honest. If someone offered me a discount like that I would have snapped them up. Good luck to him.

I don't see any other shareholders looking to "discuss" your totally wild and unsubstantiated allegations. If you had anything remotely sensible, knowledgeable or intelligent to contribute then some discussion might take place but clearly that isn't the case where you are concerned!

I said "probably quite libellous" not specifically or legally so. A more appropriate term would have perhaps been defamatory. If you think that the company is untrustworthy and the management is bad, I assume you will sell out and move on since only a perverse individual would maintain an investment in a company who they considered to be deceitful and run by rotten management.

"libellous" - are you having a laugh? Try reading - "I'm certainly no expert but gut feeling tells me......."

Opinions cannot be libellous!!!

Don't be so absurd. Barry Olliff has been one of the straightest guys in the City that I have encountered and CLIG have always been a good deal more transparent than a lot of other financial companies.

While BO is selling down his shareholding there is nothing wrong in engaging in some short term trading at discount pricing when the opportunity arises. There is clearly a seller around and brokers will inevitably connect them with other institutional holders and insiders who have the liquidity and may be interested in taking up stock that is becoming available.

Your totally unwarranted allegations are also probably quite libellous. If you think the company is untrustworthy and the management is bad, then you should sell your shares and move on elsewhere.

B.O. has committed publicly to selling his entire holding. Except when he's in the know (not in the public domain) he manages to contradict his stated intentions and buys a wodge at a knockdown price.

I'm certainly no expert but gut feeling tells me the whole saga is bent.

Even if kosher as far as the rules are concerned, I'm doubtful if this company is one to trust any longer.

Underhand deals smell and highlight bad management.

Barry Olliff and Barry Aling also took advantage of the discounted shareprice opportunity yesterday buying 100,000 @475p and 50,000 @476p resprctively.

You're almost certainly right stun12. There were two significant sells of 591K and 100k @475p at around the same time yesterday so EBT took advantage of the discounted price and stock availability.

Opportunistic purchase by the EBT, presumably prompted by a large seller approaching either CLIG themselves or a broker who crossed them into CLIG.

You mean someone got shafted!

TBH I can't get my mind around what exactly happened there. The EBT buy transaction was (plus other large transactions) at a discount to the market price. Not at a premium. Very odd!

A massive vote of confidence by the company, taking advantage of the recent market dip, by spending £1,662,500 to increase the EBT holding by circa 25%. I fairly certain that this is the largest EBT transaction that they have ever made !

"the Company's Employee Benefit Trust purchased 350,000 ordinary shares of 1p each on 2 December 2021 at a price of £4.75 per share."

Hi Masurenguy, not sure whether George Karpus will sell down or exit via M&A. At some stage he will want to exit I guess. For perspective GK has just turned 76 while Barry O turns 77 this December. GK was in attendance at the AGM, but a clash of results meant I could not attend and those that did (as reported on the ShareSoc members' website) did not ask what his plans were. Argh! GK's lock-up I think was 12 months, so he can start selling from now on.

Excellent and very comprehensive analysis Maynard. I note that you continue to hold but do not currently intend to increase your position until or unless there is evidence of meaningful increases in FUM. That is more or less my position since CLIG already accounts for just over 7.5% of my current portfolio and is my fourth largest holding.

I'd be interested to know whether you anticipate George Karpus seeking to sell down his holding going forward - which I agree would not be so easy to do as was the case with Barry Olliff over a period of circa 12 years - or do you think that he may look to exit via some future M & A activity?
