08/11/2001 10:16 | Erm.. up 7% in a flash on hardly any volume. Why, those pesky MMs. Capital Radio up a lot today as well, perhaps there's some connection. I'm going to hide in my swamp until the price sees sense. Rob | uncle-bob
08/11/2001 08:48 | truffle - lots of trades appear to be private transactions at near the mid-price. With no corresponding RNS announcements, we remain in the dark as to what's going on there. FY results are out on the 22nd November. CHS will post a loss, due to New Media activities. Whether that'll hit the price, now there's hopefully more awareness of the stock, we shall see. Rival Scottish Radio recently said they don't expect a pick-up in radio advertising for some time yet. From Questor: "Finance director John Bowman warned that the industry is only halfway through the current downturn and foreshadowed at least another nine difficult months." Rob | uncle-bob
06/11/2001 22:27 | Uncle Bob you are, short jedi "nom de plume" maybe, friend of OBI-WAN certainly, master of you are, universe, guru, some say, and why the fxxk I`m talking like this I`ll never know. Why do I get the feeling there`s perhaps more to CHS than at first thought, couple of decent sells yesterday, good sized trades today, could have been either buys or sells, nothing you would call normal trading, this share behaves like nothing I`ve been in before. Any thoughts?? | trufflehound

05/11/2001 14:09 | Truff - Precisely because there are no trades. When the trades finally appear, I believe they are more likely to be sells than buys. I posted this on another thread: CHS are into everything media-related: Music, Radio, TV production, internet, Book publishing. They were formed in 1968 so should probably be making a profit by now. But they are spread too thin - and are vulnerable to the downturn in advertising. Most of their revenues are from the UK, specifically from radio and TV. In September they announced radio revenues below expectations and the stock took a beating. They also announced some writing off of internet investments (hence the big expected loss this year). It's recovered strongly but I can't see their problems going away - the advertising downturn has yet to hit the UK like it has hit the USA. PE 203, next results will show ~£8m loss, after that in 2002 PE will be 103. I think that's unsustainable. Agree with me you will, or short you should not be! Rob | uncle-bob
05/11/2001 13:25 | I wish the short jedi would explain how this share is going to tumble when there are no trades, I guess he knows something I don`t. Still short and hoping!! | trufflehound
02/11/2001 16:32 | That'll explain the torrent of buys coming in then - not! | uncle-bob
