26/3/2013 13:12 | monis, its a year or two old now but still relevant when comparing structures from south america to Africa--Namibia and HRT's VIEW THAT THEY ARE VERY SIMILAR IN COMPOSITION ETC ETC. | fairenough11
26/3/2013 13:06 | fairenough- when was that article written? | monis
26/3/2013 12:51 | come on HRT and Mello. Show the world that apart from football, Brazil can also look for oil. :-) | cherisher
26/3/2013 12:44 | from jimmy---iii--cheers. HRT already have oil seeps in their central blocs--I like it:-))) ==================== 12:04 HRT Well jimmy24 2 Yesterday, HRT announced the sudding of their first well in Namibia in the Central Area offshore Namibia. The well will target a carbonate reef prospect that is reported to have strong hydrocarbon indicators in the seismic. The presence of reservoir quality carbonates are common in Angola, such as the prolific Cameia 1 well discovery. In addition reservoir quality carbonates have been found in Tapir South drilled by Chariot and in a number of wells drilled in shallower water in Namibia. The key issue for HRT and Chariot is to demonstrate the presence of mature oil source rocks as these have regional implications for oil prospectivity. The HRT well should penetrate a Turonian/Cenomanian source rock above the carbonate reservoir, that will be important to know if its mature for oil in that area. I suspect it was these source rocks that were found to be mature for oil in Chariots Nimrod well, but were located above the Nimrod reservoir and hence could not charge the reservoir. If Turonian/Cenomanian source rocks are are mature for oil in HRT's central block then this will help chariot select the best prospects for its Central Blocks which are nearby. The main reservoir reservoir for HRT Wingat is expected to be charged by the Aptian "Kudu Shale " which is obviously mature for gas at Kudu in the Orange Basin, but is expected to be mature for oil in the Walvis/Luderitz basins. To date the Turonian /Cenomanian source does not appear to have been able to charge either the Nimrod prospect in the Orange Basin or Tapir South in the Namibe basin. Accordingly, the presence of mature source rocks from this horizon in the Wingat prospect is very important to Chariots Central Area prospects. It appears that HRT will be drilling below its tarrget reservoir, which may be looking to sample these source rocks. HRT report strong oil seeps in its Central Area Licences, this forthcoming Wingat well should determine from which source rocks such oil seeps originate from. The follow on well will also be in the same block and will target a deeper reservoir and source rock jimmy | fairenough11

26/3/2013 06:19 | MATERIAL FACT SPUD-IN OF THE FIRST OFFSHORE WELL ON THE NAMIBIA'S WINGAT PROSPECT Rio de Janeiro, March 25th, 2013 - HRT Participações em Petróleo S.A. (the "Company" or "HRT") (BM&FBOVESPA: HRTP3, TSX-V: HRP) through its wholly-owned subsidiary HRT Walvis Petroleum (Proprietary) Ltd. ("HRT Walvis"), announces, on the present date, the spud-in of the Wingat-1 (2212A/07) ("Wingat-1"), the first offshore well in its back-to-back exploratory drilling campaign. This well is targeting the Wingat Prospect, located in Petroleum Exploration License 23 ("PEL-23"), in the Walvis Basin, offshore the Republic of Namibia. The Wingat-1 well is located at approximately 200 km to the northwest of Walvis Bay. Its water depth is 1,034 m and it will test an elongated combination trap with a potential P10 area of 381 km2 of which there is a 4-way-structural closure of 42 km2. The main objective of this well is to test the resource potential of the Albian aged carbonate platform that has a well-defined seismic amplitude anomaly in the PSDM-3D data set. These reservoirs are expected to be encountered at approximately 3,950 m of depth below sea-level. Wingat-1 will be drilled to a projected total depth of 4,100 m by the semi-submersible Transocean Marianas (NYSE:RIG). The total time estimated to complete the operations is approximately 60 days. HRT is the operator of 10 blocks offshore Namibia, which are contained in 4 Petroleum Licenses. GALP Energia (NYSE Euronext Lisbon: GALP), with 14% participating interest, is HRT's partner to drill the first 3 wells of the current exploration campaign. "We are really confident in the start-up of the exploratory drilling campaign offshore Namibia. This moment is a milestone in the history of our Company, not only due to our entrance in the African continent, but also because of the potential of our current exploratory drilling campaign, of which Wingat is the first. We were brought to this point as a result of the expertise, effort and dedication spent by our world-class team members", highlighted Marcio Rocha Mello, the CEO of HRT.
