08/2/2010 10:36 | Hi Tpaul, thanks for that, I did read the EW thread header, good reference that. Also ordered the book u mentioned, and this one as well: "Applying Elliott Wave Theory Profitably (Wiley Trading)" looks good book for how to apply the theory in actual trading. | ![]() navyan
08/2/2010 07:39 | Yes I used this approach to shares. Leading shares with divergence from the index. Problem you dont know when it will break up. | ![]() andonis
08/2/2010 03:46 | Ando - But its not a share. Its an ETF linked to Junk Bonds, as GLD is an ETF linked to spot Gold. JNK follows the Junk Bond market. Nav - 'making money'... congratulations, longing gold? be careful :) I dont use EW on stocks because it wont work effectively, and no, it wont work on 'anything', the reasons are all listed on the EW Trading thread, under the header "how EW works" I imagine. | tpaulbeaumont
07/2/2010 16:04 | Thanks Tpaul re: 7 Feb'10 - 09:22 - 2458 of 2467 No I didn't follow it as I was busy making money from shorting index and long gold lately. why would you not apply EW on individual stocks? I thought it can be applied on anything. | ![]() navyan

07/2/2010 13:29 | Nav, your level of sadness is summarized below ! navyan - 31 Dec'09 - 23:55 - 1900 of 2463 I always think spreadbetting on Index is more harder to get right then just buying shares, if wrong then hold or average down. You must think differently I guess? timing is so difficult to get right, unless you have deep pocket to cover the wiggles, which I dont have. so I decided to stop SB with money I can not lose. hear the old saying"everyone gets what they want from the market". so I got what I wanted from the market, which is stop SBing. navyan - 31 Dec'09 - 23:58 - 1901 of 2463 2010 in 2 minutes.... | ![]() giant steps
07/2/2010 10:34 | Yes good idea tpaul. I used to do this when I was more into shares. Looking for divergences from the indices. I am not sure whats the best way to trade this comparison. I think it is a good idea, especially when a share diverges from indices and say it is to fall, where the fall is greater than the index fall due to the fact that it had no correction compared to the index. Anyway we have cases of shares which lag and those which lead. So precursors are important as you rightly pointed out. A good indicator of eminent change of direction? But when is always the question. | ![]() andonis
07/2/2010 10:31 | Nav, it appears in your learning that you are forgetful. I see in your more recent charts that you have the fib retracement 0% at the bottom, which is wrong. Hope that helps. | ![]() giant steps
07/2/2010 09:22 | haha, yes needless to say i dislike the basic wave labels for a number of reasons, all clearly shown on my EW Trading thread, under the header "rules for correct labeling" I imagine , and as mentioned I dont apply wave theory to individual shares, nevermind though, you seem happy enough :) Did you take on board my suggestion of looking at High yield/Junk Bonds for divergences? Some nice 'tells' again last week. Shame theres not more volume on the ETF. Gold v SPX v JNK | tpaulbeaumont
