Centrica : British Gas Engineers Strike Again, Threaten Further Action

(MT Newswires) -- Centrica's (CNA.L) British Gas engineers initiated another industrial action on Monday, taking the total days on strike to 38, and threatened further strikes unless the company cancels its plans to terminate workers on April 1.

The GMB Union said Monday it will meet Tuesday to consider declaring an official national lockout dispute with British Gas, under which bosses shut workers out of the workplace and don't let them work.

The company is looking to fire a large number of engineers unless they accept a 15% cut in wages and changes to terms and conditions.

Centrica's shares were up marginally on Monday's close.

The clock is ticking for British Gas workers on strike as the threat of being fired and rehired could become reality on 31 March.

That is the deadline day bosses have given to sign for a new, worse contract or FACE THE SACK.

Adding to the pressure, the workers’ GMB union recently told strikers, “If you plan to stay with British Gas after 31 March and intend to ultimately sign a new contract, our lawyers’ advice is to do so by noon on 25 March if you want to avoid the loss of protected terms and changes you have fought for.”

LONDON — European markets are heading for a lower open Friday after a spike in bond yields reignited concerns about stock valuations and prompted a sell-off on Wall Street.

Britain’s FTSE 100 is seen around 59 points lower at 6,721, Germany’s DAX is set to fall by around 92 points to 14,684 and France’s CAC 40 is expected to drop around 48 points to 6,015, according to IG data.

Hi Clever,

I think it's because there is certain entertainment value from yourself, your childish behaviour is really quite amusing. On a serious note the education system really let you down by not dealing with you being bullied as a child, and it seems you are now getting your own back by bullying but from behind a keyboard. I hope you can someday get the confidence to do this face to face with real people.
