Yes, good results. 2018 has started slowly though. As always, a couple of big deals can improve the position materially. Happy to hold. The new board seem to be making a point around building on strengths and improving regulation / ethics following Quindell. They seem to have a bright future provided they can retain the entrepeneurial spirit that has served them so well.

Re-reading last weeks' Final Results reinforces my opinion of just how strong the results were. Combined with a deep-seated and re-iterated commitment to pay dividends, the figures are quite exceptional in my view:

Astonishing:

Revenue +36%
PBT + 97%
Cash + 55% (being £37m)
EPS + 154%
FY Div + 50%
Shareholder Equity +9%


"The Board's intention is to use earnings and cash flow to underpin shareholder returns through a combination of dividend payments and share buy backs into treasury. Our goal is to pay a stable ordinary dividend, reinvest into our Firm and return excess cash to shareholders "

and

"Consequently, we look forward to the future with cautious optimism."


With the recent outperformance recorded at sector competitor Numis, the prospects for Cenkos look in my opinion to be very promising and it appears to me that the share offers exceptional value both in terms of dividend prospects and potential capital uplift.

Maybe because Cenkos has traded close to a yield of 10% in the past ... and a 9p dividend implies a 90p share price target ...

What is soul destroying is Numis going from strength to strength :(

Simon Thompson has updated on Cenkos in his IC column today saying that he feels it is "prudent to bank profits" on the basis of the cautious outlook statement from the CEO in the results.

Rumours have been doing the rounds in the press recently that City law firm, Rosenblatt have been mulling an IPO, joining the ranks of other law firms, namely Gateley, Keystone and Gordon Dadds which have also recently IPO'd.

Late last night, The Daily Mail reported/confirmed that "City lawyer Rosenblatt has appointed broker Cenkos Securities ahead of a stock market float."


Assuming that piece of information is correct and that an IPO proceeds, an attractive piece of high-earning and prestigious business for Cenkos.

Extremely strong RNS Trading Update this morning from peer-group champion, Numis.

Words like "strong", "significantly ahead", "higher average fee deals", "outlook remains positive", "robust start" all point to a buoyant business backdrop which would most likely in my opinion be a reliable read-across to Cenkos.

Bodes well for the general health of the sector and for Cenkos:-



"Trading Update

Thursday 29(th) March 2018 at 7.00am: Numis Corporation Plc ("Numis") is today issuing a trading update in respect of the six months ending 31(st) March 2018.

Numis has delivered a strong first half and is expecting to report revenue and profits significantly ahead of the comparable period last year, although below the record performance achieved in the second half of the prior year.

Transaction volumes across our Capital Markets and M&A activities have been strong throughout the period and in combination with higher average deal fees, Corporate Broking & Advisory has delivered revenue materially higher than the first half of the prior year. Equities also delivered a strong performance achieving revenues in line with the first half of last year notwithstanding the introduction of MiFID II mid-way through the period.

On the back of new mandates, the outlook for the business remains positive with a strong near term pipeline of transaction opportunities expected to support a robust start to the second half.

Further to post #2725, Chariot Oil & Gas (CHAR) have confirmed that they have managed to raise c£1.8m via their Open Offer. They were targeting up to £4.4m. The £1.8m raised in in addition to the US$15m (£10.7m) raised via the Placing, thereby making a total of c£12.5m raised. Cenkos were acting as joint broker alongside finnCap...

A final dividend of 4.5p per share has been proposed for the year ended 31 December 2017 (2016: 5.0p)...

Subject to this final dividend being approved by Shareholders at the Annual General Meeting on 15 May 2018, the final dividend will be paid on 31 May 2018 to all shareholders on the register at 4 May 2018.
