Perhaps CARD a touch small for the likes of ELLIOT? It's around half the market cap of CURY

It's the curry's infrastructure, reach, customer base and databases. Saves years to just buy it rather than build-up from scratch. Also a ready-to-go lse listing.

yup i don't know what everyone else was thinking upon the curry's news yesterday...but i was thinking if elliot think currys, a company that is low margin with very high competition, is good value - christ, what must investors like them think of card factory. chalk and cheese in terms of financials and competitive position.

Interesting article in the DT today re Currys - quotes John Stevenson - analyst at Peel Hunt saying, "Ultimately you've got a retail sector that's had 2 or 3 really challenging years in terms of the consumer, supply chain, and everything else. Now it feels like we are starting to come out of the other side of that, and that's not being reflected in valuations.....the outlook for M&A from both PE and trade buyers seems likely to pick up.....He flagged a number of market leaders were trading at low PE ratios - including DFS, Halfords, Topps Tiles, Card Factory and M&S."

our seller still here unfortunately...

the company need to take a proper grip of these - they have the cash to do buyback shares and make things very accretive for us shareholders.

any holders here should be pursuing whatever avenues you can to bring this to the company's attention - letters, emails etc.

The trading statement to end Dec gave sales figures and confirmed that profit was trending in the range 58.4 - 62m so, short of any major shocks, there is very little scope for significant variance to these numbers in the final month. The market will be more interested in post year end events, balance sheet movements and, as you say, guidance on possible recommencement of dividends.

At least we'll have any indication of pre-/post tax projections, Tranch 'A' going and any provisions for Tranch 'B'. Might even get an update re. any divi.

31st January is their year end so the accounts notified on 30th April are the full year. They are only marked as ‘preliminary’ as they won’t include quite all of the information required to be lodged with the accounts at Companies House. Nevertheless they will be audited and accompanied by an Auditors report so should not differ in any material way from those finally lodged a few months later.

Prelim results to 31st Jan 2024 e.g. to the end of the xmas period, 30th April. So I'm guessing FY will be May/June?

Doubled my position @ 98.9767p @ 11:45 hrs.
Much prefer CARD to WRKS (I hold a few) & CURY (I used to hold).

gswredland, it does look good but we may have to wait for while as the final numbers are needed if we are to see £1.30 or maybe higher. I am holding on anyway.

Volume is pitiful here.
Couple few thousand shares purchased. Needs some IR push.

Did you not see my caveat re: observation?Although comparing life's essentials with the gender bombs and "happy 30th Grandma" signs from CF is pushing things a bit!
