At EPS of 14p it should already have a share price of £2.30 to equal the average rating of the Specialist Retail sector. Plus CF is a growth company with its move into gifting and now the purchase of a US manufacturer in addition to the partnership with a US wholesaler giving access to all US states. |
Yes, Edison upping PT from 180p to 200p.Will all depend on Results next year ! |
CR has this on his list of naps for 25 Possible one bagger |
I called in to my local store today in a small market town. It was busy as usual. What I noticed in particular was that there very few Christmas cards left for the 50% off sale. In previous years there have been shelves full of leftover cards but not this year, only a few packs left! |
Probably difficult to find a card you like though as inevitably a much smaller range. I wouldn't go to Asda to buy a card but possibly would pick one up in passing if I happened to be there anyway and needed to buy one. It will be interesting to hear how the new Card Factory concessions in Aldi and Matalan have performed. |
Mind I noticed ASDA had a stand of budget cards the other day priced variously at 28p, 58p, 99p ......right up to £1.99. Might well be loss leaders just to coax the customers in, and may even just be a temporary offer over the busy festive period. |
Called into a Card Factory today for a birthday card and paid £1.99 for a card I would have happily paid £2.99 or more for. There was a steady stream of customers with little competition at today as virtually everywhere else was closed. |
A new retail outlet is set to open in Hartlepool.. |
'innate kindness' but also driven by 'expectation', either way it aids capitalism and more importantly CF share price! |
My final pre-Christmas visit to Card Factory's Kilburn store today (something I have commented on, on ADVFN). Small store and hard to imagine how it could have been much busier. People queueing, 15 deep, with the musical accompaniment of beeping tills as welcome to investors as a Christmas carol. And as I observed, a thought struck me. Kilburn is a relatively deprived, diverse area, and the demographic in the shop reflected that. But everybody there was necessarily buying something for somebody else. Whether it was a card, or a gift, or wrapping paper, the purpose of the visit was bundled up in the act of giving. Not many shops have that as their focus. In an age of cynicism and division, it was good to spend a moment reflecting on the innate kindness of people. If any business deserves a decent trading update come January, it's ours. |
Younger people send more Christmas cards than everhttps://www.thetimes.com/article/0d1be2ae-731f-4b70-b6df-ce691702b471?shareToken=4a3846c2729606d955a6954e4afe09ae |
Thanks for the tip GARYCOOK. I'll consider in early January |

14 January 2025 |
Anyone know when the post Christmas 11 month TU is scheduled ? Last year it was 16 January. |
car1pet.Could be to late, if you are waiting until after Results ! |
I assume everyone has bought Xmas cards and wrapping paper so price will reduce now. I'm not a holder but have been considering buying. I'll watch until February and then maybe buy |
Card Factory is a growing company available at a ridiculously cheap price. We'll keep opening stores. Who knows, once we have our feet firmly-planted in the US, we could probably fill the void left by Party City now they are shutting all there stores. The whole business from the stores to the backend is excellently managed. I'm getting Primark vibes from our prospects there. I still can't believe how long it's been selling at a discount. |
Dream on, anyway as I said this thread is about Card Factory not Shoe Zone, unless you are suggesting wearing cards on your feet! |
Shoezone will be gone next year, or a shadow of what it is now.I was a dividend chaser there earlier in the year, got caught up and lost a few quid - although nowhere near what people who hold now have lost. |
Wrong thread, this is Card Factory which has far more positive recent newsflow and directors buying shares. |
Back to Card Factory Kilburn today. As I said previously, small shop in a not very affluent area. 25 people shopping, of whom maybe 10 were queueing. I was there for 20 minutes and it was pretty much like that throughout. Business seemed brisk. In contrast, shoe zone, opposite, had one person trying on a pair of shoes. A much larger retail space, otherwise empty. Not all retailers are the same. |
From a technical standpoint the ‘Rounded Bottom’ is still very much in play, see the 3 month chart. Literally you can follow your finger in a curve back up to £1.40. It wanted to break faster on the 6th Dec up until Wednesday the 17th where you’ll see the rise, but then fall back into its correct curvature you see now, which is healthy, and a result of the shorts closing.
My personal prediction is it will carry on its natural curvature right up to TU, with some resistance, but not much between £1.12 and £1.15. £1.25 day before TU. A very strong TU, researched by us all, sees it back to £1.40, where it hits a natural resistance again, but from there, a continued slower climb at mid to end of January. Again, just my opinion on technical only. We know the fundamentals are great. |
great reporting, specially for non UK based investors. appreciate and thank you
