Topped up with some more this morning.

With 10c EPS forecast for the year about to start, the P/E is low, asset backing is high, cash flows are great, the company is shifting into higher growth areas, and the investments are paying off, especially with the gold price stable at a reasonably high level.

And after the election result the markets can now look forward with confidence.

Previous years suggest the Q4 update will be mid-late Jan or spilling over into Feb.

Did you take your chance today jampot?

Under the recent weight of positive newsflow I'd have thought 60p looks a good entry point going by the chart.

At least we get regular quarterly updates so they should address any short term concerns about what a seller might think they know.

Thanks. A big retrace from the recent highs, I wonder what the seller thinks he knows?

Hi tiswas...I use dummy quotes on selftrade to see how many I am offered.

Delayed report of 20k offloaded @ 58.65 I notice - certainly an enthusiastic seller about.

Gleach. Looking today on level 2 I just see the mm quotes. Are you looking at something else for that volume on offer? Thanks.

There has been good volume on the Offer for a couple of weeks now. Seems like a seller wanting to offload a chunk.

You beat me to it catsick :o))

This week Altus Strategies (ALS, quoted on AIM) announced the following news with drilling commencing and going through 2020:

"The drilling programmes in Stages 1 and 2 will be undertaken by Capital Drilling Ltd"

I don't see how the cey deal can be bad, the family behind the deal is the Egyptian Sawiris family who are multi billionaires, they are building a network of mining companies all over africa, they will be doing a lot more deals in the future and that means a lot of drilling all over the continent! Another tiny deal they inked today was a stake in aim listed altus, a prospect generator with many projects all over Africa they are giving Altus cash to drill all over the place, very well worth reading up on .....

A new company would have to be set up, find a lot of rigs, get the permits to get them into Egypt, have the staff and resources in place, capital to get the machinery. If it was me doing a change of contract I would be very worried.

Cheers ds2 - so given that any hypothetical problem is 4 years away at minimum it's really not worth fretting. Especially as this may be an opportunity for CAPD anyway.

Centamin contracted to Q3 2023 according to the latest results presentation. I'd say equal opportunity & threat for 2024 from Endeavour takeover.

I wonder if this is to do with a few nervous nellies selling on the bid for CEY by Endeavour. I suppose their logic might be that Endeavour may have their own preferred operator?

That seems ridiculous to me. CAPD have been in place highly successfully for CEY for many years. CEY are hardly likely to change operators mid-stream. If anything, this might be an opportunity for CAPD to grab business from Endeavour rather than the other way around.

I'm no expert mind you, so if any gold bugs wish to correct me then please do!

Looks nicely timed catsick - I guess that was your 10k? I also topped up @ 63.

Suspect we might see a large late trade reported.

More good news. I've found out that CAPD own 12.18% of Toronto-quoted Awale Resources (ARIC), or 8,333,334 shares. The likelihood is that they invested in ARIC's September funding round at 9c per share, costing around £430,000, as per the below article.

ARIC have just announced they've found gold in the Ivory Coast. Their share price has jumped to 20c.

So CAPD have made a gain of around £500,000 in a matter of weeks....

The gold price has zoomed back up to $1480, but given that CAPD have been at new highs it's hardly surprising to see a small pullback!

CAPD have been tipped by Mark Watson-Mitchell:

"Capital Drilling (LON:CAPD)

I was very pleased to see the latest note, from Peter Mallin-Jones at brokers Peel Hunt, on my favourite drilling rig services company.

The analyst has updated his bullish views following the award of the Bonikro contract. It is a ‘game changer’ in so much as it now takes the company into ‘load and haul’ services – which widens the group’s mining services offer.

The broker has upped its price target to 84p.

I have now profiled this company twice this year – on 23 July at 48p with a target price of 76p, then again on 22 October at 61p going for 100p before the end of 2020.

The shares are closing the week at around the 72p level, still offering some useful upside in price."
