CAN$2.98B = £1.53B

I think he saw the €1.5B (£1.07B) bids and took it as £’s in error.

That what I told him and he seemed to agree as $1.69B is around £1.07B….coincidence?

That is some "typ" the journalist made! $2.98 v $1.69 It is not even as though the keys are close together on the key board or the numbers have been transposed. I wonder where did the former figure arise from?

Interesting Crookman, thank you...

The idea of a good leader is the ability to reach and make a decision. Perhaps to many Chiefs, and not enough Indians! LMAO

Hubs, I think CA will open at some point but fear it will be a year from now at best due to the conflict among the various tribes, they’ve been trying to get in unison for years over online gaming and still seem to be split now between the pro and con Stars camps. BPTY have had a partnership with United Auburn Indian Community for 3 years now in prep for the state to open without any luck yet.
If Amaya are playing the long game CA under a PartyPoker skin would be good for them if Stars is unpalatable but I fear it won’t change the bids in the near term. Saying that this bidding process might still be going on in a year from now if the past 8 months is anything to go by …lol.

Looks like from the apathy of Amaya's share price at close, even the Americans and Canadians are getting tired of waiting!

Will now have to check the charts.

Here is the revised quote....

“We believe we are a tech company at heart,” the CEO and chairman said. “Where we plan to go with this is not just gaming.”

hat next step might come by way of bwin.party, the iGaming company Amaya has placed a US$1.69 billion bid for along with GVC Holdings. Bwin.party is the parent company to not only partypoker, the world’s third largest online poker room and currently licensed in New Jersey, but also the bwin sports betting platform, the core business component for the corporation.

Crookman, well done, I considered doing the very same. Sadly I couldn't find anyone else making that claim eihter. I do however feel £2+ a fairer price, but I am not in charge. Maybe like you, it is because I have been here for a long long time.

For arguements sake though, it was said on here by I think Stephen, that CA were making a ruling this month. Do you think a positive ruling might influence the bid?

It is without doubt imho that if it does happen, Amaya are going to win this bid based on the claim they made about being a technologically innovative company, much more than just gaming. (words to that end - article posted above)

So very very very board of waiting. Yawn!!!

I agree with what you say and my feeling is the max we will see under this circumstance will be circa 140-150 per share. And after the wait we’ve all had I would be more than happy with that. I’ve been invested in this lot for 6 years and really just want to see the back of the current BOD asap.

I wouldn't argue until we see the first concrete offer, as yet guesswork.

This though is not your normal t/o both 888 and Amaya will fight tooth and nail to prevent the other getting bpty. Amaya with their huge debt would lose plenty of customers to 888 if 888 were to succeed, 888 is an also ran if they lose, enormous stakes on the table here. Under those circumstances a bid, over the sensible limit, is quite possible. Yes the winner might have to overpay. imho.

Wasn’t really referring to the ridiculous time frame, more about the excitement of £2 plus bids! It would be great but it’s just never going to happen. IMHO

don't get too excited?? a bid of any order would give me a heart attack, I just want it to end, this is like michelangelo painting the ceiling in the Sistine chapel, when will it end??

I really would not get too excited the CAN$2.98B remark on the earlier link posted on 5561. I was very certain it was just some hack who was not good with maths so I emailed him and questioned the article. Now if you look again you will see a revised figure which is much closer to reality.

The only reason Avi Shaked will cash out is, if he were to loose the BPTY enhanced bid! and then was made an irresistible offer. Cannot see any reason for Baazov trying to take out 888 at this stage, when 1st (must win) prize is Party. 888's margins are already squeezed by the UK's 15% source revenue tax and must cut overheads by acquisitions or mergers. Light weight Glyn (LAD) lost out on a once in a lifetime 888 buyout deal in the delusion that he could actually develop their own technology & skins....and lost his job as a result! It is still not too late for WMH to enter the scrum, because of the LAD/Coral merger. Maybe this is the reason why we've seen no progress reports from the Rock.

From the Evening Standard
Still waiting on bwin

It’s getting on for a month and a half since the online-gambling giants 888 and the GVC/Amaya consortium threw their £1 billion bids into the ring for Party Poker owner bwin.party digital.

The company said at the time it would make up its mind in the “coming weeks”. You’d usually take that to mean, ooh, three or four.

The offers — both including cash and shares — are complicated to weigh up and compare. Bwin, meanwhile, has big individual shareholders including the chief executive, which makes for added complexity. But, given that bwin has had a for sale sign up since last October, investors rightly expected a result by now.

Some are less than impressed that the guy who’s job it is to make the call — bwin chairman Philip Yea, this week added yet another big board position to his existing three — the senior non-executive director role at Computacenter.

It means that as well as assessing a £1 billion bid for bwin.party, he’s got Vodafone (currently weighing up a megadeal with Liberty Media), Aberdeen Asset Management’s punchy Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust, and now Computacenter to get his head around.

Can one chap really do all those jobs properly?
edit....(You always give the heaviest jobs to the busiest guy in the office!)

Do you not think that getting rid of Emerald Bay might be the part of any acquisition? They seem to be offloading what might be considered surplus - particularly when you read the WPT's version of events being tide to BPTY.

What is to say Emerald have not now invested in Amaya? So long as below the radar there is no reason why they cannot do that. And at some point they have to view the good of the business beyond their personal greed surely, otherwise there would be no business at all.

Cant see Emerald Bay dumping their stock at 93p knowing that was on the table, and seeing the jewel in the crown WPT also being dumped, got out whilst the going was good. However I can see Amaya bidding £2.10 for 888. (and that Investec activity on 888 needs some clarification)
