04/12/2018 08:57 | I think you will find Section C members get pension increases in line with RPI, BT want to change this to CPI. | toon1966
04/12/2018 08:44 | If anyone's interested, the GENERAL legal ability for a scheme to switch from RPI to CPI is not at question. However, the courts have made it clear that things turn on the trust deed wording. If the wording says RPI whilst published, no change possible at present. If the wording says RPI whilst it is an official national statistic, then a change IS possible, because the ONS no longer considers RPI an official national statistic, even though it still publishes it. I am not aware of the BT scheme wording. | nicholasblake
04/12/2018 08:38 | Section C members are already on CPI increases | sp31415

04/12/2018 08:13 | BT Group reaches 96% reliance on renewables - Global telecommunications provider BT Group announced this week that it had signed two new energy deals, which will raise the company’s reliance on renewable energy sources from 81% to 96%. According to the ISP Review, the new deals will make BT’s sibling company EE 100% powered by renewables sources. “Last year, BT signed a separate agreement with nPower to supply the rest of EE’s operations, including over 600 retail locations across the UK, with 680 GWh of renewable electricity.” The new power purchase agreements will effectively reduce BT’s carbon emissions by 100,000 tonnes per year: the equivalent of removing 40,000 vehicles from the road. hxxps://www.energydi | toon1966
04/12/2018 07:51 | From BTPS (November 2018)- Judicial Review Update In June 2018, the Trustee wrote to those members who could potentially be impacted by High Court proceedings brought by BT against HM Treasury (HMT). The proceedings challenged the validity of a decision by HMT as to the method it would use to make certain increases to pensions in payment for public sector workers who reach State pension age between 6 December 2018 and 5 April 2021. HMT’s chosen method means that the same pension increases would also apply to Section B members reaching State pension age in this period. BT argued that HMT did not properly consider alternative methods which would not have this effect. The High Court has now published its judgment and has determined that the decision made by HMT was valid. This means the Trustee will continue to pay pension increases for these Section B members in line with legislative increase requirements for public sector workers as set out in the Rules of that Section. It is possible BT may seek permission to appeal the decision and the Trustee will continue to provide updates if there are any further developments. | toon1966
04/12/2018 07:21 | Big Day for BT Around 80,000 BT pensioners will find out today if the company can switch the way their annual increases in payments are calculated. | dipso
03/12/2018 19:50 | It's a possibility. They have a large stake in BT and one of theirs on the board. Check out Velo's posts on the LSE board. | mbmiah

28/11/2018 19:17 | jvin the max distance from the DSLAM/GFast pod is around 350m which should give the 350Meg. This is very limited to only densely populated areas. Just like with ADSL there will be a lot of very unhappy customers... | boytoy

27/11/2018 18:16 | Yes, G Fast, a hybrid technology. Hardly FTTP, G Fast is just a patch up/infill which will be superseded in a few years by full fibre networks from other providers. Why on earth can’t BT/Openreach just go all out with FTTP I just don’t understand. Why waste £millions on G Fast and then have to convert it over in a few years’ time. | boytoy
27/11/2018 08:43 | Openreach to connect one million more homes to ultrafast broadband by next summer - | toon1966
