smurfy - at what price would you say clarity has been established? It's looking pretty determined to me and the MACD is confirming the strength here.

Enjoy the rise for the moment.

Until l see a convincing breakout we'll eventually be retracing back and potentially seeing new lows i.e., below 200p. I'm not adding until l see some clarity.

Before l get accused as some 'shorter' note my average here @ 266.42 verifiable via my post history.

The trend would suggest a rise to 225-230 before retracing back to 205....or below. Although, once a new chief has been found it could break trend and move upwards and beyond 240. GLA....longs

here's why a sale/part-sale of openreach will never happen - p.7 of the pension scheme document kindly provided

"BT has agreed that if it generates net cash proceeds greater than £1,000 million from disposals, net of acquisitions, in any twelve month period and certain conditions apply, then BT will make additional contributions to the Scheme equal to one third of those net cash proceeds."

So can the pension fund invest in US bonds?

Rates in the UK are going up are they? When? We certainly won't be raising our rates as quickly as the US.

Well rates everywhere US and U.K. are going up, not going down. Like I said going to help pension funds, with more income in the bond market.

is it just me, I can't stand Carney. He comes across as a dyed in the wool leftie.

No doubt he will. His mandate is pretty much just trash the pound.Might have to wait till he's gone.

As Brexit deadline gets closer...Carney will start scaremongering again...hence no rate rise...

Of course OpenReach value around 20 to 25 billion alone.

Always like to see Directors buys, the previous buy was half a million pounds worth at 255p by the new chairman. Now his bought another 200,000 pounds worth, he can see the future potential.

US rate decision 6pm gmt. Odds on going up, will help BT and other companies with big pensions.

£200k director buy, could be significant, a buy before the news kind of buy?

US valuations seem more realistic than hedge fund valuations, hey are well out of step with real world value imo. Try going out and set up this business, assets and customer base for this market cap.

Interest rate rise in US later today, odds on certainty. Helps pension funds with higher bond yields. I would not be surprised to see BT finish in the blue at close.

What's the view on a big player like Amazon or Google buying BT? Would it be allowed.? Would it be a good fit for both sides?Baz
