I think the dividend will be slashed. People are fed up seeing companies pay eye watering dividends while the pension fund is on a massive deficit.

re. the dividend - i think it will be kept. the chairman is looking for the next CEO to take forward the business plan that was signed off by GP and the rest of the board at the last results, included in which was a commitment to keep the dividend static for the next two years. be patient - this will re-rate when the market realises this. there is a plan in place to deal with pension deficit, there is no need to take money from shareholders. re. investment in fibre, for which use the dividend cash could be used, my understanding is on freeing up said cash the pension fund would be first in line to receive it - so no can do!

Frank Field’s warning to new BT boss...Slash dividend to plug £11.3bn gap in pension fund

In other words the pension scheme will want anything not paid as div. As I stated earlier, pension scheme coys cut their div at their peril.

Just a mention that when the Western World is in trouble then everyone knows.
But when China is in trouble, then nobody knows.
Pride comes before a fall and all that.
Just ranting really :)

BT Sport struck a deal with YouTube for their UK viewers to see the Champions League and Europa finals only free. Excellent showcase for the main competitions which you can only see in the UK by subscribing to BT Sport.

I think hvs is talking about the free games aired via YouTube. These are just appetisers really. You have to pay for most games.

Financially I agree Meb, but I think it is very telling of the corporate culture.

I hadn't checked before, so was astounded to find that he took a bonus (albeit voluntarily capped) - that was a disgrace. I'm not sure if the actual value creators (AKA staff) actually got a bonus this year, but I do know they have been shafted in the past whilst their seniors still collected bonuses.

I don't have anything bad to say about Gavin, other than that he was not up to the job and it took FAR to long to decide this - he was as I understand it good in his previous role. But to take a bonus, whilst maybe "accepted practise" was well out of order.

I can't see why we need to dwell on the CEOs pay . At the end of the day it's loose change for BT in the wider scheme of things lol
