So if I were in charge of the Civil Service and Teachers Pension Fund and I shorted these Canadian Shares and you were their Prime Minister - what would you say eh?

They shouldn't be shorting - seriously. Like we send aid to India and then short their shares - just wrong wrong wrong.

isis: Canada's own stock market has performed WORSE than the UK so its probable that the Canadian government is shorting its own market too.... Who knows perhaps the UK government uses short term investments on shorting UK stocks? Perhaps the NS&I or the Bank of England does all sort of weird derivative trades? Who knows? Who cares?
