ALEX BRUMMER: Bid threat looming at BT

Aggressive cost cutting and stronger pricing have reversed the slippage in BT revenues in the latest quarter.

Drahi currently sits on considerable losses so is unlikely to walk away without exploring ways of releasing value.

Isis, I agree, the last time Drahi topped up his holding he knew then what he was doing, I expect he will dispose of other assets than BT.

Looking strong again. I'm pretty sure Drahi won't be selling any. For one thing he is well underwater and it's probably one of his most undervalued assets. Even if he were to he'd try and find a big buyer to offload his huge holding.

A reasonable chance if inflation is seen to be heading downwards. They were around 150-160 May/June I think.

Perceived DT and / or Drahi overhangs, rising accounting pension deficit and elevated gearing in a higher for longer rate environment.

BT profits soar thanks to inflation-linked contracts

The company said pre-tax profit was £1.1 billion in the six months to the end of September, up 29% on the year before.

Smurfy : “No increase in dividend ? Disgusting.”

The interim dividend is always fixed at 30% of last years total dividend.
So 30% of 7.7p = 2.31p
Any Changes up or down are made at year end.

One day in the near future this already profitable company will reduce its massive Capex, the pension obligation will fall, and fewer people will be employed.

The debt is easily managed now out of the £20bn turnover, it will in time reduce.

Hopelessly undervalued, lots more to come in the medium term.
