“Patrick Drahi is one of the smartest cats,” said Höttges, referring to the stakebuilding in BT. “He is sitting in front of the hole waiting for when the mouse is ready, to catch it.”

Altice built on debt, only time before it implodes. People like Drahi are chances, fine when things going for them, but a different matter when you have to refinance that debt at much higher rates.

Altice bonds trading at 50 cents on the dollar, 60b in debt….parabolic interest rates….Pereira the no2 under house arrest, his bt shares will get dumped when bondholders takeover, this pos could be down to sub 70p.

Reporter is saying ALTICE debt is 60 million. Can't be true. Interview cut short. Only mentioned ALTICE presence in Portugal, France and USA. No mention of UK or BT. Not comprehensive reporting.

Just reading about Altice corruption.

Drahi seems genuinely upset that colleagues within his organisation have been participating in fraudulent activity, some at the very top.

The numbers look relatively small, 10mEu here and there, but adding up to a few hundred million.

Daily telegraph reports.

Property has been easy cash cow while rates were low for prolonged period...simplistic trick...values go up investors/owners borrow more to buy/renovate...extension, loft conversion, new kitchen, bathroom etc etc...money that recycles to trades connected to property is endless...

Because think in US CEO's are in tune and openly talk about their company share prices...unlike CEOs here...

Also Yanks don't see Companies or people making a humumgus profit, in fact they applaud it and encourage it!
Here now there is outcry when anyone or a Company does well, maybe it's an inverted form of jealousy and envy. This is part of the reason why we now fail at so many things.
It's definitely more productive talking to a Yank about business and the Stockmarkets than someone from the UK - we are infected by Woke wimps many of whom have never worked for a business or any idea how you run one.

It makes them feel good and posh...seeing plenty of newer top end cars on the road aka Mercs, Audis, BMWs, Range Rover and SUV's etc etc...normal persons car now...many moons ago Ford and Vauxhall were the normal persons car...

One thing that the US is better at than anyone is marketing. I've got a friend who is going potty because he's cheap Pint in Spoons has gone up 8p (still cheap) but doesn't bat an Eyelid paying £1200 for a feking Iphone!

There seems to be a wide disparity between those handful of bloated companies worth above trillion $ and those worth below trillion $...this gap needs to narrow...out of sync...

Will this dog ever bark again ?

Agree about UK equities, big institution sell and they fall, they all pile into the USA and it rises.
So many uk companies paying large dividends with `PE in single figures.

Apple, a great company but with a PE of a bit over 30, not growing much these days.

The problem is so called passive investments via ETF'S.
The highly priced shares go ever higher, the cheap shares ever lower.

If we all held trackers and ETF's in theory share prices would never move, even after poor results.
