01/12/2021 14:37 | craftyspeculator: Spot on. The links to Bain Capital are disturbing. As for government action ....the country has been leaderless for some time and slowly over the past 30 to 40 years inexorably dismantled effective infrastructure ...be it financial, law enforcement, customs etc. More importantly the 'vultures' and their 'insiders' know it. So do the rest of us . | wendsworth
01/12/2021 11:06 | Irrespective of a takeover the figures look good and I'm happy with the dividend return, so the future is v positive, hence JP Morgan top pick stock update on BT today | arees1969
01/12/2021 09:39 | Subsequent British governments have always tried to trash anything British, especially if it’s got the word British in the name. They just don’t like a British company doing well. BT has been under the cosh for decades so in a world where they manage and hold the most valuable commodity, information and data transfer, they are going to be thrashed again. Maybe the play will be saying no to a takeover, thereby causing a share price crash. BT can’t win. | guss
01/12/2021 09:06 | I would be extremely surprised if the UK government would green light any takeover of BT due to concerns around national security, cybercrime or for any other numerous reasons. The government can be wreak less, even stupid at times, but not that stupid. All this dreaming around a company takeover is just that - dreaming IMO | spacecake
01/12/2021 09:00 | BT is clearly undervalued and will be a cash cow for the second half of this decade and beyond, before any purchaser even thinks about improving it. The pension deficit will sort itself out, helped by a tailwind of inflationary macro economics. I think there will be a kick off bid from Drahi which will flush out lots of other bidders...and Drahi can't lose really as worst case he makes a great return on his existing 12% equity stake. For BT shareholders I think we are on the last lap and the business will be gone by 2022. At what price is the key question. It would have to be north of £2 to be taken seriously and more likely the £2.50 to £3.00 range in a bid war | craftyspeculator
01/12/2021 08:50 | The obvious answer is to separate them, if it is worth £40bn on its own would be like adding 400p per share on and I find it hard to believe we would be offered 550p in a takeover situation | csmwssk12hu
01/12/2021 08:32 | One thing is sure that when BT preparing defence against any takeover by outsiders Maybe reason is due to share price is cheaper in market Due to open reach valuation. It will be better to separate the open reach and give the value to shareholders Good luck | dipa11

30/11/2021 22:02 | And who are these people that are familiar with the matter?...has the word Sources been upgraded to Familiar now?... BT Group Plc’s new chairman Adam Crozier’s first move may be to barricade himself inside the boardroom at its new headquarters. After a month on the board of Britain’s biggest phone company, Crozier will start as chair Wednesday. He’ll need to get straight to work preparing for a potential takeover bid for BT, a move that top executives and advisers expect could come as soon as the next few months, according to people familiar with the matter. | diku
