BT are booming, can't get enough engineers to install fibre. Bring the ex engineers out of retirement in this war like situation.

Nige, perhaps you should read the thread.

BT will be just chipper. The problem is the VPN software and the corporate network.

This is for anyone who thinks that broadband cannot cope with extra usage with people working from home. Sorry to burst some peoples bubble, but BT will cope just fine.

Broadband can cope with surge in home work, says BT

Cancelled my sky sports subscription with bt todayWhat a nightmare - they clearly have no care for customer service or satisfaction so I'll be moving all services away from them once things have settled downA perfect case study of rip off Britain

Monty, you were saying only a couple of days ago, that you thought the dividend would be maintained. Now you’re talking of 30% & 50% cuts.

No.1 Trader?
I don’t think so.

anyway, enough of my negativity - whilst true, at this price BT is a steal.

In addition, BT is CNI so there is no way he government will let it go to the wall. Screeming buy, even though broadband is saturated, sports tv rights down the pan.

and lloyds internal network a disgrace.

site to site typically get 140kbps. yup, almost 1000x slower than your super duper new link monty.

I could do a job in about half an hour at home on my equipment. Same job would take several days at Lloyds.

still, I get paid by the hour so fine by me.

Get a new platform provided if they are that slow.

yes, might have to. IG seem more robust

They all want speed. Yes, but BT is not the issue. The VPN and bandwidth within the corporates is the issue.

I was getting 14ms latency to google servers. My corporate VPN between 70ms and 140ms and sometimes worse.

70ms is just about usable for terminal services. 140ms is an utter ball ache.

I've worked at several companies.

Same with voice conferencing but lower limits. 40ms is just about tolerable on voice call. At 100ms it gets messy.

Ask any Openreach engineer, you see on the roadside, are you busy, my one said trying to bring ex engineers out of retirement, don't know if true, but good news I think if it is.

You know I'm bullish on BT, they must be booming installing Fibre for home workers, no one in London all working from home. They all want speed.

yeah, my fibre broadband really helped me trade yesterday. Oh hang on, it didnt. Took around 5 minutes to get a quote on selftrade and even if you hit confirm straight away, no trade took place.

Ended up going to the pub for the afternoon. Far more productive.
