28/4/2009 13:38 | Hyper Al- I agree, it seems (or seemed until now!) a recent sickness- slower, healthier organic growth became unfashionble, and great businesses built up over generations were ruined by the debt and acquisitions mania. I am short on this now, was alerted to it through Moneyweek. Might well coincide with expected/feared next leg down for the indexes Double top (Jan & Apr) + breakout due from current range- almost certainly negative territory next! | dan10
14/4/2009 07:14 | Could someone explain to me why companies that make a good profit play into the banks hands by having debt facilities? Why do businesses always assume that they need some sort of relationship with banks even when they are in profit. Banks should be a place for depositing money for security not for building debt. | hyper al
18/10/2008 08:48 | Went back into this yesterday morning. Good results earlier in the week, especially considering the wet summer. Defensive qualities given the tendency of people to stay home more during recession. | gorse

26/2/2007 09:14 | Well, well ... this is interesting: "HANOVER Investors Management, the activist shareholder that targets under-valued companies, has secretly built a stake in Britvic, the £689m (1bn, $1.3bn) soft-drinks group that makes Tango, 7UP and Pepsi in the UK. The interest, acquired through contracts for difference, comes just weeks after a dawn raid by Permira, the private equity group, which built a 14% stake in the business after takeover talks broke down. News of the holding will add to the uncertainty about Britvic's future, given Hanover's track record in removing management at firms in which it invests." | gorse

12/12/2006 12:10 | Sorry gucci mate. I bailed out of BVIC because I didn't have the time and not because I didn't believe BVIC would turnaround. Usually when I sell a stock I hope it will go down to leave me satisfied that I got a good price. In the case of BVIC I have always wanted them to do well and believed that they would. Very well played! | fairfax ache |
