10/2/2007 11:34 | Oil, gold and gas are all sharply up over the last few days. The Nigerians have actually complied with OPEC and cut production. US/Iran tensions are rising - Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Iranian Revolution and they have threatened to target US assets worldwide if their nuclear facilities are attacked. It is alleged that they are supplying the missiles that have accounted for the 4 helicopters in Iraq over the past 2 weeks. Gold is up $30/ounce in the past fortnight, oil up 20% from a $50 low. Geo-political tensions are rising without doubt.Inflation is rearing its ugly head. The point is, this notion that electricity prices are due to collapse is ridiculous and totally disregards political factors. Certainly the share is very volatile at present. It could dip a bit but the downside is very limited. The downed stations will come back on stream. This is a classic situation where lots of ill-founded negativity have driven down the share price to ridiculously low levels. My advice - buy them on Monday and don't look at them til May/June. I picked up 5000 at £4.19 via a CFD and I will sleep easy in my bed at night. However, DYOR & make your own decisions. By the time the muddied waters clear the share price will have jumped considerably | oharebj

09/2/2007 16:02 | ohareby, AXA and DB have been selling. I think we will see a bounce Monday, I have my finger on the buy trigger. I agree, there will have to be some very bad news to push the share price much lower. | ![]() bpoole
09/2/2007 12:50 | Don't think they will have much luck in a rising market today. Also, the refinery shut-down in the US has pushed up the prices of oil & gas. A buy for 411000 shares just went through after a long run of probable short sells. The P/E is so low that the RNS of Tuesday would have to be awful to depress the share price any more. IMHO there is a significant amount of upside from here | oharebj
09/2/2007 09:01 | Anybody got an opinion what the results will be, I thought all the bad news was out. I think the shorters will have another go today especially the day traders. We could see the share price go sub 400p today | ![]() bpoole
08/2/2007 19:29 | When is the next British Energy dividend paid? The Company has updated its dividend policy to return all surplus capital to shareholders on a prudent basis after taking account of the Company's need to increase financial stability, make appropriate investments, address the pension scheme deficit, meet the collateral requirements of the Company and, over time, allow for its investment in nuclear new build. • Annual base dividend of £80m p.a., equivalent to 13.6p per share (fully diluted), payable after the AGM expected in July. • In addition the Board intends to consider a special distribution each year in February following the 3rd Quarter results announcement commencing in 2008. The amount of any special distribution will represent any surplus cash flow eligible and available for distribution at the time. • In respect of the financial year 2006/07, we anticipate paying our first base dividend after the Company's AGM expected in July 2007 and intend to consider a special distribution payable in February 2008. In the light of current operating difficulties, the amount of any special distribution will take into account recent performance history and any liquidity issues. | banny3
08/2/2007 17:23 | I should imagine the shorters will have another go tomorrow. If the shorters can get the price sub 400p the company will have to come out with the results early if there is bad news, if not then buy on the fact. | ![]() bpoole

08/2/2007 08:51 | You should also report this to Ombudsman. Same with Carphone Warehouse. The effective tariff for my orange phone, I was told, is £6 a month, on the condition that I sent my 4th 8th and 12th month bill back to them and claimed cash back while they are taking £30 each month from my account. Each month the bill arrive in the 4th week. But curiously 4th, 8th and 12th monnth bill simply did not arrive. So I called them up and explained the situations. They said deadline has passed for any cash back and so I paid £360 a year for what they said was £60. So beware of carphone warehouse. I am reporting this to financial ombudsman service. | ![]() watwungyi

06/2/2007 17:28 | hi everyone be aware if you ever decide to terminate advfn subscription (my story) i rang them few days ago to cancell it/they said send a e-mail/well i sent an e-mail, they reply to the e-mail saying write a letter/ ok i wrote a letter/ according to them they did not received my letter, telling me i should have recorded it/ the person on the advfn phone was very rude and had no respect for the subscriber at all besides he did not give me his full name, 6 times i rang and he simply put the phone down on me/ all i asked them to do is cancell the subcription/ for few dollars more/they lost a potential subscriber & a advfn shareholder for good/ what a administration who does not care a bit about the inconvenient they are putting through their loyal customer. | ![]() smalikhafsah
