04/3/2024 22:04 | BAT has only 1% of its sales in the UK. So why would a UK vaping tax have any relevance? | f56
04/3/2024 20:13 | Surely vaping tax, all in the price Everyman and he's dog short on the vaping tax. Looks like the algorithms just sold in anticipation.Of course got to buy back one day.In the meantime for long term investors, ex div 21st March for another great pay day 2nd May. | montyhedge
04/3/2024 20:05 | Interesting views on British American Tobacco presently sit 10th place in the FTSE 100 with a Market Cap of £52,209.26 Billion. Its revenue every year has been above £25 to 27 Billion for the past 5 years or more. Its operating profit this year was above £11 billion before the impairment was applied. The operating profit has increased year on year. The debt is coming down fell by £3 Billion this year alone. Interest rate to fall which in the medium term will impact savings on borrowing payments. British American Tobacco Portfolio includes ITC which was formed in 1910 they currently have 29%. ITC is floating as a separate company with hotels etc which BATS holds 17% which they want to sell. This will probably raise a few Billion for Debt reduction, share buybacks, special dividends, etc. Bats still retain 25% in the ITC group which pays a regular dividend to Bats. People who say it's a value trap, a falling knife, etc. I think they need to look at the Board, company Fundamentals, and Portfolio. I think you may see a company is profitable year on year, dividends well covered, asset value of its holdings around the world to increase India, and Nigeria's growing populations. It is a buy at these levels as the dividend yield will keep increasing as the share price drops. Bats are cash generative with new products and markets opening up, investing in new tech, and keeping up to speed around the world. People can decide what they like but do some research before commenting, please. Happy Investing | hope1815
04/3/2024 16:18 | This is turning into the same sort of dog Imperial became, capital destructive….U | porsche1945
04/3/2024 16:14 | Daler: like it. Glass half full sort of guy - like me. This market will turn at some point but I am concerned about the number of foreign takeovers that have and may yet occur. But we must remember the holding BATS have in ITC (about 29%) although ITC's share price is itself down about 20% since summer 2023 | mcunliffe1
04/3/2024 16:13 | Is the fall to do with uncertainty of what is in the budget? could it bounce on Wednesday afternoon? | car1pet

04/3/2024 15:44 | SP killing the dividend attraction! | gbh2
04/3/2024 15:42 | In for 1750 at 22.88. It will probably tank now! I think all bad news is in already and any controls on vapes in the budget will be a good thing for the company. GLA | crt131
04/3/2024 15:22 | Is this an opportunity to buy more or a falling knife ? Million $ question . If this carries on , definitely on ex - div date under £22 . Sad stage of affair | stevensupertrader
04/3/2024 15:22 | stonedyou: I am a British Citizen and hold my BATS shares in a Self Invested Personal Pension (a SIPP). All capital gains and all dividends are free of UK taxes. The South Africa tax authorities take nothing from me. I can only guess that you are a South African citizen from your response in post number 8553. Thanks for the update. | mcunliffe1
04/3/2024 15:02 | BATs yield is delicious and juicy but not the share price . Too tasty to be eaten 😊 | stevensupertrader
04/3/2024 14:47 | Looks like we are headimg down again. I can see it going below £22 ex div. Is market discounting a divident cut? Maybe. | zicopele
04/3/2024 13:19 | 15% taken in tax from US dividends. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
04/3/2024 12:50 | stonedyou: I'm not sure I follow your post number 8550. I'm guessing you are a South Africa resident and their tax regime demands 20% of dividend income? Any way to legally avoid that? I'm UK resident but just curious on a slow day in the market. Appreciated in advance but no worries if you don't respond. | mcunliffe1
04/3/2024 11:04 | Dipped a toe back in this morning at 2,314p to accompany an existing large position in IMB. Was last in 2½ years ago. Will add if it continues to fall. Good luck longs. | huckers
04/3/2024 11:02 | Absurd valuation. The market has got things so wrong in so many ways but "when the tide goes out you will learn who's been swimming naked". | topazfrenzy
02/3/2024 16:00 | Will dip my tow in market next week. But b4 budget. | action
